TMP-DE fully restored in 4K…it’s about time!

In the final push-in on Kirk where they replaced Spock and McCoy's armbands, Spock's orange one flips back to blue before it goes off screen.

Is there a screenshot of this error?

(I need to get myself a 4K UHD player so I can watch the UHD disc of this thing that I bought myself...)

Okey dokey.

What are they 'homaging' with all the other errors?
Well, I think this is the best you are going to get but if you can't get past them, the other versions are still available to watch, I suppose. This movie is 40+ years old. It's still pretty damn impressive.

If you're gonna fix it, then do it properly and not sloppily.
That's what's ultimately frustrating about the DE, they expend time and effort to half-ass "fix" things that really aren't broken, instead of just tighting up the edit as Wise originally had planned and inserting the effects shots that weren't completed in 1979.

I'm just reporting on the errors. I agree that on the whole the DE22 is nice. Not so nice that I feel the need to ignore the errors, but still nice.

These are two consecutive frames:

When I went to watch the new 4K SLV, there was always a scene that bugged me. At 1:00:55 (roughly), Decker says a line "Commencing evasive maneuvers" something something. That "something" sounds like a name, but even way back while watching this on the VHS release, I have never been able to decipher what exactly Decker is saying. The closed captioning only states the first 3 words; doesn't even attempt to tell us what else Decker says.

Oddly enough, the look Kirk is giving him while Decker walks towards a station while saying this line is almost like "who the hell were you talking to?"

Anybody have a thought as to what Decker is saying? Is it a persons name? Or, some other command perhaps?

From the shooting script, Appendix E - Bridge:

DECKER
Commencing evasive maneuvers,
Mister Gamal.
Must be guy at the engineering station. They often seem to stick inexperienced crewmen here, which is odd. It's basically the Ops station from TNG.

But every time you find something, I feel the need to go and look for it to see if I should think about fixing it in my fan edit.

What I hear,
Decker: Commencing evasive maneuvers Mr. Guh Nop.

OK, glad I am not the only one hearing "Mr. Guh Nop" haha! I didn't want to say the words in fear that someone might only hear that and not something on their own!

From the shooting script, Appendix E - Bridge:

DECKER
Commencing evasive maneuvers,
Mister Gamal.

That's interesting. I have searched for the script before but I've only come across one in particular that doesn't have this line at all. Nice to finally know what was said!

Makes even more sense now as Decker is heading towards that station while saying the line!

Thanks for the help everyone!

Now, I see the TMP bridge looks very dark here:

What gets called Tikopai now—but I don’t remember it unpainted…after the water damage?

Is there a way to watch the new release of the widescreen SLV without spending $80+ for "The Complete Adventure" box set? And is that version in 4K as well?

Not legally.

Yes, it's only on 4K disc.
I need a HD version! It will be years before I upgrade to a 4k player. Still, that said, getting a 4k version with completed digital effects was so unexpected, I certainly won't complain. I think it was an awesome idea.

The set will probably be $20~$50 within a year. Part of me wanted to wait but I wanted to support the release-date releases, which is where the sales figures are tallied for previous releases (TNG-R, et al).

It is in 4K. And widescreen. Got my package over the weekend and the SLV was the one I immediately popped in. Box was a bit squished, but it was the only one left int he store and the discs are not damaged. Its MSRP was $100 but it was on sale for $80 (not due to being squished like the anthropomorphized dough guy that goes 'hee-hee' when tickled inappropriately in that advert... )

It is the fleetingest glimpse, from orange to green. Blink and you miss it. You'd have to be staring at the coloured bands to see the blip.

Being red/green colourblind, I barely even notice the wrong colours in the first place. Even in opening week in 1979.

The Appendix script excerpts are usually for lines said over the intercoms, subspace chatter etc., often added after principal photography.

the new release of the widescreen SLV... is that version in 4K as well?

The SLV scenes are in a seamless branching arrangement with the 4K theatrical.
