TMP-DE fully restored in 4K…it’s about time!

I assume the 4K DE will eventually be for sale online somewhere. I've had the DE from Amazon Prime for several years.

My iTunes digital copy of the Director’s Edition I bought years ago has just upgraded to the 2022 version. Not surprising though, it’s only in SD since that’s how I originally bought it. I think the only way I can upgrade it to 4K is if I rebuy it or redeem a digital code. I’ll likely do the latter when I get the physical set.

Hallelujah! I bought the DE 4 years ago on Prime and it’s now magically transformed into the 4k DE. So, I guess I don’t have to worry about where to buy it now- I already owned it all along.

Is it still in SD or did up upgrade to HD/4K?
Not sure of the resolution but the content is the new version. Checked the officers lounge scene (new background) , the opening credits (glittery) and leaving drydock. ( Earth was there- the arm and the dust wasnt)

I just checked my iTunes copy of TMP, it’s the theatrical version (which got the free 4K upgrade a while back) but it also includes the DE as an extra but currently it’s still the SD version. I’m not too bothered if it doesn’t get upgraded as IIRC they added the DE as a free extra a while after I bought it anyway, but it would be funny if it did get the upgrade considering I never paid for it!

My “Complete Adventure” edition of the Blu-Ray has been posted, hopefully it will arrive Monday. I’m really looking forward to seeing the SLV in high-def widescreen! The new deleted scenes should be awesome so see too.

Early reports suggest that the security guard scene is missing phaser shot and documentary doesn't contain any new memory wall footage. That's sort of a disappointment and a relief. I was looking forward to seeing what could be done with the Memory Wall - I even prepped some pre-emptive dialogue but it would have been a huge challenge. I wonder how easy it will be to add a phaser effect?

I guess I am one of the few people that a) really glad that they did the 1-4 4K collection last year b) that they finally decided to do individual 4K this year, because…

Now I just need to buy the TMP DE and VI in 4K and it completes my TOS movie collection! I do not and will not want V in my collection ever! Thank you Paramount!

Now I just have wait for FC in 4K and that’s the only TNG movie I ever need!

I'd give it about a week, two max, before some fan-editor fixes up the security guard scene.

And I now sadly have to conclude, outside of what we already saw, that the Memory Wall footage has long since either been lost or deliberately junked. Otherwise it would've been here. Disappointing, but not unexpected. Nobody was anticipating actually using this stuff in home video back in the 70's.

Then again, given what we're seeing from the Roddenberry Archive lately, all may not be lost in that regard...

My friend pointed out that in the novel, Phillips gets defragged BEFORE he fires... I hope we don't get into a Han fired first type scenario.

It does seem deeply weird that Paramount+ is taking down content. Shouldn't it be the home for all things Star Trek?

Imagine Disney+ taking Star Wars down off the platform.
