TMP-DE fully restored in 4K…it’s about time!

Make sure you double check that start time. The Fathom page says 3 pm. You wouldn't want to miss the beginning.

The restored print looks absolutely insane on the theater screen. this movie belongs on the big screen. It's a totally different experience. My wife and I had a really great time finally seeing Robert Wise's version in the cinema.

Just got back from seeing it in the theater. Loved it, but as with all movies, so much of the experience will depend on the theater you watch it in.

My only significant complaints are the aforementioned lounge scene, which really just looks embarrassingly bad. I don't remember what the original looked like, but it must've been better than this. The other, relatively minor issue is that the new scene where V'ger is finally revealed as it orbits Earth looks out of place. It's too good, too sharp, compared to most of the rest of the movie. It could be improved with some softening or additional film grain.

At any rate, TMP continues to be my most re-watched movie ever!

I realize this is sacrilegious, but I'd love to see a version of the movie with completely re-done effects using modern CGI. Using Daren Dochterman's amazing Enterprise model with its perfect pearlescent paint job, of course.

As much as I appreciate the amazing model work in TMP, the film quality varies significantly from scene to scene, and I long for a consistent, in-focus look. Plus, the other models don't hold up nearly as well as the Enterprise. The orbital office complex near the Enterprise dry dock and station Epsilon 9 suffer from looking very much like models.

As more talented people get access to amazing rendering tools, I'm hopeful some enterprising fan will take on the task.

My friend has never seen this movie, as we’ve been watching TOS together for the past few months. I’ve been to other Fathom events and it absolutely annoys me how they’ll sometimes include interviews at the beginning talking about the movie, sometimes even talking about the ending.

There is a short feature before the movie about the Enterprise. About the only thing it spoils is the explosion at the end of the wormhole, which is in the trailer so maybe even that's a stretch. No other story points are detailed.

I wish I could've done this, but I'm not going out much as someone got me exposed to COVID. Would've been awesome to see TMP on the big screen again.
The last time I saw it on the big screen, I was pretty much able to determine that I heard the movie when I was in my biological mother's tummy. I'm not sure that she was a Trekkie, but she at the very least went to enjoy a movie.
