Spoilers Titans - DC Universe Series

Yeah, this whole season has been pretty meh, but I did think they ended it in a good place.

Agreed about how Gar should have just turned into a gorilla (that was my exact thought too), and how Trigon was defeated so quickly and easily. I mean, Brother Blood was a pretty powerful dude, but c'mon. At least there should have been an actual fight.

Gar is tasked with pulling out the heavy cables, but he doesn't shapeshift into a gorilla or something?
Yeah, the hubby and I were literally like, "Did they blow all their CGI budget for Gar on his trippy ep? He should turn into a gorilla."

I was pleased everyone got happy endings since this was the end of the show. That was nice. But it was easy to tell there was meant to be more in another season.

And yet they had him turn into a tiger in the fight with the guards. I felt that was overkill for guys who were under mind control and should've been treated more gently. They should've skipped that part and saved the CGI budget for the climax.

There was? It seemed pretty conclusive to me. The characters' journeys seemed designed to take them in different directions from each other.

I meant that it seemed there was supposed to be a lead in to another season after Starfire comes back with orange light instead of blue. I felt like the dinner and happy endings were shot later, after they thought they might get canceled.

Talk about failing to stick the landing....

I read some Teen Titans in the '80s when this story they were doing was in the comics, and wow what a disappointment.

Their version of Trigon was a wimp. All that build up to just have Brother Blood reach into his chest and pull out his beating heart...:cardie:

And wow the big final "Action Sequence" is the assembled Teen Titans versus a small group of Rent-A-Cops...

Then let's get to the fact that this the magic/mystical villain resorts to a Stargate looking device that for plot reasons takes forever to create a Wormhole... that an entire planet can pass through and even though this is a comic book based show; the fact that mankind can even create such a device, and then just leave it sitting fully operational in an attic awaiting a power source... (again... :wtf:)

What? Did they get the notification of the cancellation and all the writing staff just go... f**k it?

And parts of this last season I thought were pretty good; but this ending they came up with (aside from the final restaurant scene where they gave pretty much everybody a happy ending which was nice) just really sucked.

Season 4 coming to Blu-ray October 17.

This came to Netflix Canada relatively recently, so I just finished the final season today. Overall I liked the show but it was less than the sum of its parts. However, I think Wellover nailed the Luthor part. Five minutes with him and all the others paled (some more than others but especially the one in Superman and Lois). Standouts for me, besides Luthor, were Starfire and Gar.

Wow. That's ... quite the statement. I haven't seen this season yet (waiting on the Blu), but wasn't Welliver in only one episode? That's some accomplishment if he managed to eclipse the likes of Rosenbaum and Cryer for you, especially with such a limited appearance.

Could be some recency bias (I’m REALLY not sold on “biker gang leader” Luthor) combined with showing serious potential for the part (he’d have been ideal on Superman and Lois). It’s not that I don’t like the others. Rosenbaum was very good as a young Luthor. Cryer fit the Arrowverse very well. And Hackman is one of my all time favourite actors, so I have a soft spot for him.

So I'm doing a Titans rewatch/first watch. (I'd seen the first two seasons before, but seasons three and four will be new to me.) I just rewatched the second season finale, and it occurs to me: Just how strong are Amazons supposed to be in the world of Titans? In this episode, Donna (a half-Amazon) fights a brainwashed Conner, who despite Luthor's stabilizing DNA, seems basically to be physically Kryptonian. She takes full-on punches to the face and head-butts from him without so much as a bloody nose, much less having her cranium explode into a fine red mist, and she gives back as good as she gets. So apparently she has near-Kryptonian strength and durability, right?

But then a few minutes later, she gets electrocuted to death. Um, say what?

Not only that, but the same woman who emerged unscathed from hand-to-hand combat with a Kryptonian clone had her ass handed to her by Slade fucking Wilson just a few episodes ago. Plus, in that same episode, Slade slaughtered a roomful of other Amazons off-camera. So which is it, show? Are Amazons Superboy-level powerful, or please-don't-hurt-me-Mr.-Wilson wimps?

I know the answer, of course. It's all too common in superhero productions: The characters are as strong or as weak as they need to be for purposes of a given scene. It's just that the inconsistency struck me as especially glaring here.
