Time Traveller's Wife - creepiest film ever?

it's been a while since I saw the movie, and I may not have seen the entire thing, but I thought that the first time he saw the younger girl he did not know who she was. And he only read the diary after a few visits because he began to suspect she was the younger version.

^ Been a while since I did read the movie, but I think the events in the movie are the same. From Henry's POV he first meets Claire as an adult, and she already knows him, and tells him over dinner about the first time she met him; in the meadow. So then later when he travels and appears in the field he knows what's going on and who the little girl is.
And then back in the present he tries to look at Claire's old diary as he wants to sync up the dates of when he will appear in the meadow.

Love the Alba scenes in the movie too, esp when there are two of them, the 10 year old and the 5 year old version together, that's a really cool concept well executed.

Oh yeah, and not gonna deny I got a bit welled up in the cinema in the scene when he meets his mom on the train. I mean, my mom's not dead or anything, but just imagining what that would be like, or even going back to see my mom with me as an adult, and her when I was just a kid, the old her, what that would be like...

Imagine your wife has a head injury.

She keeps thinking she's at different points of her life, so that sometimes she loves you and sometimes she doesn't know who you are.

5 seconds after offering you oral sex, your beloved could be on her hands and knees looking for her My Little Pony dollies under your bed.

It's not like you're going to hold her to her promise if she's not in her right mind?

Are you?

I just wanted to second what Ethros said.

I pretty much go for serious science fiction and can't stand the Twilight crap.

I read The Time Traveler's Wife at least twice and saw the movie. I really like the book; the movie is ok, but I find it hard to disassociate the movie from the book. It is indeed a sort of "greatest hits" of the book, so if you like the book, you will mostly like the movie. I found the same thing happens with the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

Anyway, about their relationship. I have to agree that it isn't creepy at all. From Henry's perspective most of the time he has just left adult Claire like 2 seconds ago, so it isn't like he misses her or is extra horny. Also he purposely keeps information about them or the future to a bare minimum to not try to influence Claire more than simply by existing there. In his experience in the past with Claire he does use it as time to get to know her more since he is obviously not in the "present" spending time with her. Also, obviously there is greater detail in the book, but Henry is very careful and doesn't do anything with Claire until her 18th birthday. Prior to that he is a friend, teacher, and not-really-boyfriend (mainly in that order temporally).
