Tim Kirng Interview

Opinion Alert: Heroes was never better than Lost. Not for a second.

No, it's really not ever even gotten that close, even when Lost was sort of meandering in Season 3-4 in places and Heros was going really strong in Season 1, it still wasn't that close.

Hero's - as good as it ever was in Season 1 just never quite takes that next step up in quality that would raise it to the level of Lost or BSG Season1.

There were hints and signs that the writing was capable of being as convaluted as it has been this year earlier but they managed to avoid falling into too many of those holes earlier. As they are forced to continue the story it's pretty obvious they were a one-note show who pretty much tells the same story over and over with minor variations.

That's certainly up for debate. I certainly thought Heroes in its mid-season 1 prime was far better than Lost at the time. *I* certainly enjoyed Heroes much more than Lost at the time. The only reason I kept up on Lost at all was because I had a Tivo season pass.

I think your really are forgetting how anemically craptastic Lost was during Season 3 when it was clear that the writers had no idea where they were going, and the flashbacks started going into some real "why do we care" territory.

Lost did finally get good again when they finally plotted out the rest of the series - but that does not excuse (or make me forget) its really poor middle period.

While I really enjoyed season one of Heroes, a lot of it was pretty conventional and "by the book/paint by numbers" in many spots. You knew where plots were headed before the characters did, such as the jackass partner who came out of nowhere having an affair with Matt's wife.

They should never have put time travel into the show. The precog paintings are bad enough. Hiro is powerful enough as a teleporter, but throw in time travel too?! Or at the very least he could freeze time momentarily but not travel backwards and forwards.

I would of Hiro lose is time travel ability after this volume and put a cap on his teleporting, I want to see more of the sword swinging Hiro.

Much as I enjoy Heroes it's light entertainment and nowhere near on the (multiple) level(s) that LOST has operated on since S2.

I agree that chunks of Season 3 where Jack and/or Kate and Sawyer are captives of the others were pretty slow and pointless to a large degree. We had Nikki/Paulo stuff as well as Jack figuring out his place with the Others and some filler episodes that weren't really needed. That being said, when I take the body of work of Lost through 4 seasons and the body of work of Heroes and compare the overall quality in terms of writing, acting, story-telling, etc, etc......it isn't even a contest.

Especially since Heroes has really only had 1 strong season and even it ended poorly and had some pretty sub-par acting and story lines.
