Re: TIE Fighter PC Game-inspired 80s Anime-style Short Finally Finishe
^X-wing vs. Tie Fighter was pretty dissiapointing despite the updated graphics engines. There was an expansion pack that added some more single player content and the Super Star Destroyers.
X-wing Alliance, the last game in the series, was also pretty good. Basically it allowed you to use a Millenium-falcon style craft (Although you can also play the Falcon itself in the later part of the game) and also join up with the alliance (So technically it's more of a sequel to the original game since you're a good guy).
An expansion or sequel was in the planning stages (as the story ended on a cliffhanger), but that was the time The Phantom Menace came out and the priority switched to tie-ins like the Racer, Adventure Game, etc. although they still produced the Rogue Squadron/Starfighter console series, which, while it looked better than the X-wing games for the most part were far more limited in scope.
Also regarding Char, it does kind of look like his appearence in the Char's Counterattack movie, which was (sort of) the end of his(and Gundam's) original story arc. I wonder if the red Imperial outfit is sort of a nod to that, as Char in the various series has the nickname of "The Red Comet", something which also extends to his outfits and his mecha/Mobile Suits, which are usually with some exceptions, custom painted red. (Although in the old EU Ysanne Isard who controlled the Empire shortly after Endor wore a similar costume).
