Thunderstorm, stuck indoors

Well, this crazy storm came out of nowhere. I was out driving, and suddenly I couldn't see because the rain was so heavy. Half the road were flooded within 10 minutes.

Soooo...I'm gonna go ahead and stay home tonight. For now, I am watching The X-Files with Instant Netflix...at least as long as my internet doesn't go out. If and when that happens, I will be switching to Stargate: Universe, which my dad bought me for my birthday a couple months ago but I have yet to start watching.

My roommate is driving back from Minnesota today, so hopefully he makes it back alive. I have a feeling he's going to be driving in the storm the entire way.

You really don't understand basic weather do you?

It's a thunderstorm, it's not like it's a hurricane, it will be over within a few hours tops.

Also do we really need play by plays of people's lives? It's sunny outside here, but I need to take a shit, so I came in and then went on the computer. Now I'm watching Southbus which is a horrible soft porn movie that tries to have a plot, later I'll probably pee and then go to the store to buy some milk.

No one forced you to read it, nor did they force you to respond. I would have preferred it you hadn't.

Also, wtf is "basic weather?" Have you never seen a storm that has lasted more than a few hours? I have. They happen all the time. Plus, the tornado sirens have been going off all afternoon, so this isn't just rain.

I meant for this to be more of a "what would you do when the weather sucks" kind of a thread. Sorry I didn't spell it out for you.

Wow, a negative reply from bigdaddy. Why do you always do this? No one will take your posts seriously if everyone of them is an insult towards somebody which is how they usually come across.

As for the OP: great choice with The X-Files. Good for a stormy day. :techman:

I love thunderstorms. We've had a couple of weird ones lately, where half the sky was clear while the other half was intense storm activity. And then one Saturday morning I was driving to my Mother's house and I got caught in a storm so heavy that I nearly pulled over; when I got to my Mother's house ten minutes later, she said they had only gotten drizzle.

More than we need people complaining about Threads. If you don't like it, read something else. And it's Shortbus.

If you asked me when I was 5, or heck when I was 15, I would have told you how much I hated thunderstorms. Nowadays, I find them exciting. Especially when caught within one, as I have been on a number of occasions, most memorably in the middle of central Scotland.

Driving through a thunderstorm is particularly exciting stuff. The combination fo fear, poor visibility, reduced grip, falling air temperature, and the wonder of where that fork will strike next, all make things thrilling.

Yeah, nothing like imminent doom to enhance the taste of sweet, sweet life. :D

There was a brief break, so I went to the bank, but it's supposed to start up again very soon. Then it's supposed to rain for 4 days straight. Blah.

I love rain! Sometimes I go splash around in the puddles, or today I sat in the window with Comet and watched the storm.

Yeah. I don't get Bigdaddy's reaction. There's something about being cooped up inside watching movies, reading, surfing the internet, and watching the driving rain pound the pavement and smothering the grass outside, and the lighting show.

I assume you are in the midwest...several websites are down because of the storm.

And also hoping a nearby lightning strike doesn't trigger a small EMP that reduces your computer to something akin to a funny-shaped large and expensive metal/plastic stone. :bolian:

Well, these t-storms didn't come out of nowhere. They came out of Iowa. And they were nasty. It was beautiful this morning. Was planning to take the little one swimming. Checked the radar. Boom, big storm, on its way.

So, I took two shits and watched lots of Phineas and Ferb.

Well, yes, they came out of Iowa. As I am located 5 minutes from Iowa, I literally saw them coming.

Uh-oh, time for Round 2. The tornado sirens are blaring! Good thing I took some time to buy a case of beer.

I'm going to feel really bad in an hour or two when I decide to order a pizza. That delivery guy is going to get soaked!

Or "Bowfinger," an underrated Eddie Murphy / Steve Martin film. It has a film within the film called "Chubby Rain."

No rain in the forecast for me. Just a lot of hot, 90+ degree days. I tend to ignore the rain as much as possible. I don't let it slow me down unless the storms are particularly strong and dangerous. If I have errands to run and things to do, I proceed as planned. Maybe that's not the most responsible and safe choice, but I just hate it when Mother Nature tries to screw up my routines.
