But if the Borg actually have turned over a new leaf becoming more benevolent, as hinted to this season, you may actually have this wish fulfilled within a matter of episodes…
Are you forgetting the wrecking ball Discovery writers created in the 32nd century?
None of what happens in the late late 24th or early 25th century will matter in the long run though. Nothing of the kind will have relevant consequences because even if UFP does create some massive breakthroughs for example, makes an alliance with the 'better' Borg and creates a better setting for everyone, none of that will exist anymore by the 32nd century.
Remember that despite how many breakthroughs were made or technologies encounteredc, none of the faster than warp tech or superior power sources the UFP encountered are 'reliable' according to Burnham (despite the fact they were more than reliable for species who invented them and even worked with some 'bugs' for UFP too).
And apparently 800 odd years never really amounted to ANY changes in technology (apart from creating programmable matter - which is akin to 30 or 50 odd years of advancement and would have fitted better in the mid 25th century.
And even if UFP did make some serious headways... 'something' will happen so that is taken away and no longer exists by the time the mid 31st century rolls.
This is the problem where apparently 'UFP can't have nice things for the sake of drama' in the prime timeline.
So... its just pointless, unless Picard time travel ends up nullifying the Burn and creates a future where the UFP was actually advancing in the past 800 years or so... that might make it worthwhile... but that won't come to pass because we were already told that what happens in Picard won't really 'clash' with Discovery or other series.
Discovery writers have 'locked up' any of those prospects and created some rather flimsy excuses to make their 'Burn' narrative work.
