3 Wishes

No you cannot wish for more wishes!

This isn't so much what would you do if you rubbed a genie the right way!

Just your personal hopes & dreams.

1. Become independent from my family. Financially independent, home & car I want.

2. Create something that matters to people, art/music/literature/film.

3. Get married and do better than my parents?

These are pretty selfish to be honest.

Those aren't selfish at all. My dreams are similar:

1) Become independent and actually start living my life while I have a life to live.
2) Find someone to love, get married, and build a life together.
3) Amass a large amount of wealth and use it to build hospitals, homeless shelters, museums, libraries, all kinds of things. I'd have a little money set aside for my comfort, and the comfort of my family, but the vast majority would be for philanthropy.

People often feel uncomfortable when a family member wants to move beyond the family's own limitations and problems.

Right now I want my parents and my brother to prosper because it is like a viscous cycle, they have money/working and keep struggling, which is beyond me. Ugh.

ETA: When I was a kid I got awards for writing, they didn't care, When I was a teen I got published in a college art magazine, they didn't care, when my band played a show for a record release party for a more well know band, they didn't care.

1) I want to find some way to make my intellectual disabled son independent from me.

2) I would like to be good at one of the crafts I love.

3) I would like to be able to afford to buy any book I want.

What are his interests? My cousin is mentally disabled but no one tries to include him in something he could be creatively productive in. I have tired but everyone else sh!ts on me. Ugh.

He is interested in the war history, and he likes playing games on the computer.

He is quite good at putting flat pack furniture together and he was able to put our new letterbox in by himself, concrete and all.

However he cannot budget. He needed a calculator the other day to work out what 15 - 8 was.

If I could find a cheap apartment for him I would try to get him under a financial guardianship order, hopefully with a disability support worker as well.

He also has 'friends' who know when his payday is.

That's not selfish. Hell, most of my family is selfish, and I mean really selfish. You're not selfish just for wanting to live free and make something of your life. For me, that's every person's sacred right.

2. To be more successful at my job, or to create something that would give me more financial freedom--to at least be able to do things for the people I care about or not have to worry about money all the time.

3. To travel, see more of the world and explore with my husband and friends.
