Thoughts/questions about the movie Moon (Spoilers)

I just saw Moon last night. I thought it was really good and more thought provoking than many recent movies (including The Hurt Locker which I just saw). :techman: So I figured, for those of you who have seen it, here are some musings and questions I still have.

1a.) Did the original (non-clone) Sam work on the Moon? Did he allow himself to be cloned for the project or was it done unknowingly? Maybe the hybernation used to transport someone to the Moon can do the genetic/memory copying without that person knowing it, maybe other routine medical tech can do it too.

1b.) At what point were the memories taken from the original Sam? Since the "visions" clone Sam sees seem to be his daughter Eve aged about 15 years (at least that is what they seemed to be to me), the memories seem to be recent.

2.) Were the messages from Tess only edited from actual messages the real Tess sent? Did she record these or other messages specifically for use during the clones' time on the Moon? Did the company just create a digital actor for extra messages (if so, why were there editing glitches)?

3.) Will Sam (the clone) seek out his "family" to help expose the events on the Moon, or will they be implicated in those events?

4.) Why were the transmissions "jammed" Moonside? Wouldn't it have been easier to just fix the satellite software to report "failure" back to the mining base? Since Sam is on the darkside, he can't send a line-of-sight transmission to Earth and thus relies on the satellites for all communication. (I would have prefered this, and Sam could have done some hacking to get around the "fix".)

5.) Why were there so many Sam clones in storage? Surely 10 or so clones would be enough (given that repair/rescue missions are possible), and would required fewer materials and less infrastructure investment (creating the clones and keeping them in stasis or deactivated).

6a.) Gerty seemed to be selectively helpful, answering only some questions, but then suddenly giving Sam passcodes and telling him secrets. Was Gerty's programming realistic? Understandably his primary mission is to keep (each) Sam safe to keep the operation going, but wouldn't there be some limits to that? Wouldn't they have hard coded him not to reveal "secret" mission information?

6b.) Why was Gerty "talking" to corporate with an active video screen? Shouldn't he just directly communicate with home, why does he have to vocalize and look at a screen? Why does he have to type the password for Sam, can't Gerty just send/transmit the info to the other computer? Are there "in movie" explanations for this stuff, or is it just for communicating things to the audience?

7.) Sam, when he is about to head home, decides to help the just-awakening Sam by destroying one of the jamming towers. Are there other reasons to do this other than simply to help out the next Sam? He is already safe and headed to Earth, so another awake Sam doesn't help reveal what the company is doing. Also, with the rescue team just arriving, wouldn't they be alerted and tasked with repairing the damaged jamming tower maybe even before the new Sam is awake enough to use the communication channels?

8.) In the transmissions at the end of the movie, I only caught that the actions of the company had been revealed by the clone Sam, and some bit about (a politician?) saying 'whoever he is, he is an illegal immigrant.' What else do we hear at the end in the radio or tv transmissions?

Well those are the questions I have so far, let me know what you guys think, and post any of your own questions.
