Thoughts on the "A Time To..." Series?

With regards to the spoiler material I'll just say- Oy gevalt.

Also, it's folly to assume that writing a fiction about something equates to approving of it in some manner.

that's what turned me off about those books: given when they came out, they were a sick, paper-thin excuse of a Bush assassination fantasy. Somebody wanted to whack Bush and wrote Zife as a way to do it. Very tacky.
Oh, really? Are you claiming to have retroactive omniscience, the ability to know what I was thinking when I wrote that novel nearly eight years ago?

You don't know me, Nerys Dukat, you're not a mind reader, and you have no idea what you're talking about. Do not ever presume to state as fact anything about my state of mind, or my creative intentions, or my personal beliefs, with regard to my work or anything else. And learn to tell the difference between facts and your own woefully uninformed opinion.

I won't debate this with you; I will simply ask you to cease and desist repeating this insulting and utterly unprovable claim.

they did. if you read Articles of the Federation, that came up.

I meant people outside of the government. One reporter from Trill figured out something was going on and agreed to sit on the story as long as Ross stepped down. For Bacco to have suspicions about what happened and not take action is criminal. If someone had assasinated G. W. Bush do you really think that Obama wouldn`t have it investigated and procecute those responsible?

If someone held a gun to Bush`s head and forced him to resign do you really think nobody would try to find out what really was going on even if a different party was in power?

You assume that the emphasis here was on the rule of law, which was a big if.

But I love that you pointed out that particular parallel, because that's what turned me off about those books: given when they came out, they were a sick, paper-thin excuse of a Bush assassination fantasy. Somebody wanted to whack Bush and wrote Zife as a way to do it. Very tacky. I was similarly offended by a fanfic I read once that involved killing Obama. It's disgusting.

That claim is so monumentally full of shit that I'm fairly certain you can smell it from the Moon.

Seriously. Read the damn book again. While it certainly portrays Zife in a very negative light, it portrays the assassination of Zife in a negative light, too. It's not David Mack saying, "This ought to happen to Bush."

ETA:

Also, as the great Lemony Snicket once put it: "I'm at a loss as to how to write a villain who doesn't do villainous things."
