Thoughts on the 1st meeting between Sisko & Odo

Some random thoughts of mine.

1) At first blush, Odo comes across as domineering and little respect for authority-telling the commander where weapons can be fired and not.

2) After looking at the situation, there was no really controlling entity so there had to be some-type of authority-so Odo was the rules/authority.

3) Would he have told Dukat, that he doesn't allow disruptors/phasers on the Promenade?

4) Was there a protocol for Odo that would allow weapon's fire on the Promenade?

5) I'm guessing that Odo didn't like Sisko at first b/c of Sisko's presumptuousness about firing a weapon first and asking questions later

6) In Sisko's defense, he was simply trying to bring order to the situation. It MIGHT have stopped a bloodier situation b/c the big guy looked like he was gonna resist Odo. Sisko didn't shoot to kill, maim or injure-just to break up the fight. Sisko could have stunned or killed the big guy-wonder what Odo woulda said about that.

It's that Odo *is* the authority. To him, it's Sisko that's not respecting authority. It's supposed to be Odo's rules.

Would he have told Dukat, that he doesn't allow disruptors/phasers on the Promenade?

Most likely, since he was Dukat's security officer as well.

Was there a protocol for Odo that would allow weapon's fire on the Promenade?

Yes - the protocol is: Odo is Security Chief, everything is up to Odo.

Odo is the security chief on a Bajoran space station. It's Sisko that came in firing phasers.

Has Sisko fired a phaser on the Promenade since? :)
