Thoughts about the writers duo

Wrong.

Just wrong.

Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong.

And not only that, incorrect.

Graves was doing just fine at that age (note Denny Crane on Boston Legal for septuagenarians doing exceptional work at their age). There is no justifiable reason to not have Graves as Phelps in a role HE ORIGINATED and could well have played in the film.

A super-spy in his early 70s still doing field-work. Very plausible.
Especially when you consider the train-sequence at the end of the movie.

Thank you for reminding me of the OTHER reason I hated this film with all my heart and being. Fucking stupid piece of shit.

Some folks around here expect WAYYYY to much from Summer Block-buster movies...

Having a personal opinion about a particular movie is fine, but attaching that opinion as to why a movie does good or bad is silly and self-deluding.

Especially when a movie like TRANSFORMERS makes a ton of money for the Producers.

Your only reinforcing your own personal belief and perhaps s few who agree with you, but not really getting to the actual facts as to why a movie fails or succeeds.

I didn't rush out to see TRANSFORMERS at the theater and never had any interest in the toys or the cartoon, but after renting it through Netflix I found that it was very entertaining movie and worth picking up to add to my DVD collection.

But then again, I don't expect movies like this to be anything more than a couple of hours of Entertaining Escapism.

Anyway, OT...

Nothing so far that I've seen leads me to believe that these two Guys are going to do anything so completely horrible to Star Trek that I'll never be able to enjoy it again.

Oooookay.

I only expect what I see.
Most Summer Blockbusters are far better than anyone gives them credit for.

But again, another example of me prefering to enjoy entertainment for
what it is rather than pick it apart for what it's not.

I don't think you could pay me to watch a movie about a line of boy's dolls from the 80s, but I can say I thought Orci's "The Legend of Zorro" was about as mundane as writing can get. Quite the disappointment after the wonderful "The Mask of Zorro".

They're robots, not dolls.

I agree that the movie was awful. How did the map get on Spike's grandfather's glasses or whatever it was? Wow, that was horrible. I hope there's nothing like that in Trek.
This statement shows you may have been at the movie but you weren't paying attention...

After having seen M:I3 (which was written by Orci and Kurtzman and directed by Abrams) yesterday the chances of Star Trek to be really good have (in my view) even increased.

Agreed. That movie was very well written, making great characters out of decent ones, had some very intense moments and action.

I like MI3 if only because it's the only MI movie to really emphasize teamwork like the TV show, and that the other two teammates had their own arcs as well. On the other hand, it shouldn't have taken up to the third movie to figure that part out!

I see that I'm at least not the only one who didnt like this movie. I actually felt there was no script written at all, just a continuation of scenes, one dumber than the other.

And I also see that the ppl who liked it, liked it because it was because they were fans of the '80s animated series. Obviously, that's why the movie became a box-office succes. I'm not one of those who watched the animated series. But, I like far-out things, and that really is the pond this movie was fishing in rite?

So, after seeing this movie, I'm quite fearful Trek is going to be in the same category. Looking good, and dumb as fuck. I mean, it's the shortest way to being a box-office succes.

I do hope I'm wrong and u guys who say the director may play a bigger part, are right.

It was giant robots knocking the fuck out of each other - I saw it on Imax - what's not to like?

In the same way that many TOS fans think they were watching a documentary of the 23rd century, a lot of transformer fans think the cartoon was written by Dostoevsky.

They were Archibald Witwicky's glasses yes. When he found Megatron, Optimus Prime explains that Megatron's navigation system was activated and that the map was etched into the glasses when Megatron zapped Archibald in the eyes (this was shown in the flashback).

Criticize the action and script all you want, but they did explain that quite clearly.

Megan Fox was hot! And that still wasn't a good enough reason to have wasted those hours of my life ...
