Those Hilarious TNG TV-Previews

I seem to remember Cassidy's saying "The Incredible Hulk will return in a moment" as being the best period blurb.

To my knowledge, these promos were not on the original DVD releases of TNG. If they were, they were hidden easter eggs because I never was able to find them.

They're on the Blu-Rays, and likely most of them are on YouTube. I know they were also included on the "Star Trek Omnipedia" CD-ROM that was out aout ten years ago. Or was it the CD-ROM of the TNG Technical Manual? One of those discs had them all.

Some of the background music from the later years was fun though. I've searched and searched but just can't seem to find those percussive tracks (i.e. TNG season 5 or DS9 season 2.)
I had the Omnipedia CD-ROM in the late 90s. I don't remember the promos on it.

As long as we're sort of on the subject:

The promos were probably on the Technical Manual CD-ROM then.

No, they were on the Star Trek: The Next Generation Companion CD-ROM, which was also included only in the latest editions of the Omnipedia. I remember extracting all the MOV files (very small, by today standards) to build my trailers library.

I confirm the previews were not on the DVD, which was a disappointment for me at the time. The same thing also happened with TOS, for which the original promos were not included on the DVDs (but they are on the Blu-rays).

By the way, neither DS9 or Voyager DVDs have the original previews, and at least for DS9 they are all collected in the similar Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Companion CD-ROM (also available in the latest editions of the Omnipedia).
Those "companion" CD-ROMs also have the full set of the original scripts.

Finally I believe that previews for Enterprise episodes are not included in the DVDs nor in the Blu-rays.

Best,
Maab

That's right. I forgot all about the Companion CD-ROM, but I knew the Omnipedia was involved somehow!

I seem to recall that the TOS DVD sets (the yellow, blue and red clamshells) from 2004 did in fact have the trailers on them, you just had to click around the menu of the TOS bridge to find them. They weren't marked in an obvious way, so if you didn't know to look you might miss them. I can't speak to the original 2-episode single disc editions, but I know the trailers were on those DVD season sets.

That's good to know; I'd love to get my hands on those!

Yes, you are right, I've just checked, they have the trailers, my mistake.

Here they are (courtesy of Star Trek Minutiae website):
- full set of TNG scripts (zip file 3,9 Mb)
- full set of DS9 scripts (zip file 3,9 Mb)

More here.

Best,
Maab

I've been rewatching the pretender lately, and in the end credits they have promo's for other syndicated tv shows. It's awesome.

Not to mention "Klingon Officer Worf"...following in the fine tradition of "Half-Vulcan Science Officer Spock" from Starfleet's official report on Talos IV.

"I am confused, Captain...what are my duties on this ship?"
"We want you to be a Klingon...you know, threaten to shoot the viewscreen, stuff like that."
"I can do that."

Misleading for "Galaxy's Child"

Actually pretty good for "The Host"

I remember those! That background music in each is one of the ones I mentioned above that I'd love to get a hold of, too.

Wish they had been included in the DVD releases although good that they're still available.

Agreed. It's fun to watch the blu-rays now and start each episode with the trailer beforehand.

Here's one of the promos for "All Good Things..."

While not episode specific, I always thought this promo for the episodes in syndication was fun:

I find the promo's useful at highlighting the good work done by CBS. I watch them after the show though as they always give far too much away. Or describe a totally different episode to the one we're presented with.
