I get the theory, but I really do think people may be overthinking this. I'm not sure movie audiences really worry about the philosophical underpinnings of comic book movies. Look at FRANKENSTEIN MEETS THE WOLFMAN back in the forties. As far as I know, audiences didn't suffer any cognitive dissonance just because the Frankenstein monster, a product of warped science, was bumping heads with a supernatural were-creature.

And, more recently, SMALLVILLE mixes magic and comic book "science" all the time. Nobody seems to mind. . . .

Likewise, THE X-FILES tended to mix science fiction and supernatural horror as well. An episode about UFOs would be followed by one about a voodoo curse. The ratings never suffered.

Exactly. Only the geek population will be concerned about this. And then, I contend, only a small percentage of them.

If the movie is well done, most aren't going to care that high sorcery, magic and mysticism is riding alongside aliens and high teck and everything in between. It'll be a great AVENGERS movie!

We live in good times.

Looks like a combo of Copiel and Ultimate Thor. I was wondering how they were going to get around Hemsworth's lack of "Thor muscle". The streamlined Ultimate look isn't bad.

I agree with T'Baio that is a bit disconcerting and worrying to see how things will evolve with the Thor movie and that has nothing to do with the creative minds involved. I understand when Jon Favreau says he's wary about returning for Iron Man 3 because now he has to take into consideration how other characters and storylines might potentially affect his storytelling process, and this is a risk that Marvel should have realized going into this process setting up for The Avengers, that in the process of intertwining and meshing so many films and characters, you were bound to some difficulties. It'll be interesting to see how it's all pulled off. It's a big, and I mean a very big gamble.

With that said, I am a little lukewarm to the Thor costume. I think the garish color of the cape conflicts with the muted gray colors of the body armor, which has this plastic-y rubber vibe that's a bit... weird, and I'm not sure if those mix. I mean, the cape is swooshy, so that's cool, but the costume doesn't seem tonally coherent.

It's different. I was honestly expecting something else. Plus, it does resemble the Ultimates version a tad, and I also wasn't expecting that. It's interesting, though.

Is Hemsworth going to be in it he's gorgeous daddy Kirk is going to be the next Sam Worthington not that they are alike in any way.

About that last post-credits clip in IM:2....my guess
I'm guessing that the ending of the Thor movie will have Thor separated from his hammer somehow, thus S.H.I.E.L.D. is looking for it cause they are involved in the Thor movie and realize its power. Marvel Studios is placing this clip as a way to tease audiences for Thor, help them recognize the PR for it when it starts up with a teaser trailer likely during Holiday movie season.

I'm digging the outfit, but I'd like to see a full-body shot and get a better look at Thor's face. The costume kind of reminds me of this one (that's one ugly-ass Thor, though).

I wonder if they are going to transplant Asgard into the mortal realm or keep it in it's own realm?

I think if they edge more toward Ultimates with Thor than with the regular Marvel Thor, it would work better

But Agent Coulson said "We found him which would imply that Thor is in the crater. So I'm wondering whether we'll see how he got in the crater in the Thor movie, maybe they throw him out of Asgard or something.

As I understand it, most of the movie takes place in the mortal realm, as in the early comics.

Natalie Portman has been cast as Jane Foster, which implies a contemporary setting.

I haven't seen the film but I thought someone else here quoted it as found it. That would be different.
