THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till release

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

Plus think about why people watch movies about historical events.. you already know we got to the moon, or that JFK, MLK, Anne Frank died in the end. But people watch it anyway because they want to enjoy the story. Hell was anyone surprised that Iron Man did NOT die at the end of Iron Man 2?

So really... you can show a lot of stuff in 5 minutes, but it doesn't present it in chronological order, it doesn't tell the story behind the scenes they presented, it doesn't show what the pay off will be.

And we all learned from Iron Man 2 that just because it's in the SDCC clip and even the trailer that parts won't make it into the film. So for all we know... THIS was all the stuff that WON'T be in the movie, save for a few parts. Even that line about "Stark never tells me anything" or "for a homeless guy he's cut!" may end up as only being in the clip or the trailer and never even make it to the final cut.

I'm still pumped to see this movie. And Natalie Portman has way more chemistry with Chris Helmsworth than she did with half the guys she's played along side, ESPECIALLY HAYDEN! LOL Hell look at how giggly and smiley she is around him even at Comic Con and in interviews. 10 bucks they're hookin' up IRL not just on screen. And doesn't matter if they're in relationships with other people. That little chicksa wants the Odinson.

"I'm the God of Thunder."

"And I'm a Jew. So you'll need to be circumscized."

"Nay! No one takes the head of little Thor! Although you are pretty cute... well, TRADITION!"

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

This is probably a better place for it, but c n p'd from other thread this is my take:

Pretty much all stuff we've seen before. I'd say he is a warrior banished from his dimension to our world. He meets a chick and her friend, S.H.I.E.L.D. later detains him, he gets out, all while theirs a power struggle for Odins throne, most likely at Loki's hands. Somebody escapes from Asgard to our world to tell Thor he needs to go back and take his rightful place because Loki's a terrible ruler and not only does Loki want to rule Asgard but now Earth, so he sends The Destoyer and hilarity ensues. Thor prevails in the end, but feels like Earth is his home now and he gives his seat as king to his bestest buddy in all of Asgard and yea hilarity ensues again. I think that pretty much sums up my take of how the film will turn out, although I could be way off. Still bad ass though. I will definitely see it!

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

^ Add in Loki tricking Thor into releasing the Frost giants at the beginning of the film causing him to get banished in the first place and out of the way so Loki can enact his plan to rule Asgard after Odin's death and you pretty much have the movie down pat. This is just my own assumption based on what we saw.

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

Early on, when Thor wipes the floor with a bunch of SHIELD agents, does he still possess super-strength, or is he "merely" doing what Batman could have done?

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

Those scenes take place after Thor finds out SHIELD has discovered Mjolnir, so he heads to the camp to try and retrieve it. All those scenes are leading up to where he grabs the hammer but is unable to wield it. In these scenes he is still unworthy, and merely mortal.

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

People bitching about this having shown the entire movie have to remember one thing.

This isn't a trailer. This is a five minute clip reel intended to be shown to the fans and the faithful in the church that is Comic Con. Intended to hopefully allay any nervousness people may have about the project. Marvel knows they're not showing any plot points that these people don't already know or suspect. Why do you think Marvel is trying to keep it off the internet? It's over five minutes long...your average trailer is 2 at the most. This wasn't meant to be seen by the whole world, this was meant to be seen by people who know the entire plot anyway, and get them excited about its faithfulness and all the things they included.

You'll see a real trailer soon that will be like a minute and a half.

That's nice. Guess I'm out of touch with SDCC nerd experience.

Ask me if I give a shit about any thing you wrote (or ever will write), though?

I don't.

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

^ Not sure what this is supposed to mean. Yeah we'll most likely get official teaser trailers before the end of the year. It's still too early in the production for Captain America for them to pump out anything significant yet. I'd say sometime before or around the Christmas movies would be my guess.

Also yeah Thor is de-powered as part of his banishment to Earth. He's just utilizing his years of training when he kicks the SHEILD agents asses in the cordoned area where the hammer is. This is the significance of the interrogation scene between Coulson and Thor where he asks him where he got his training from and Thor just stares at him.

He doesn't - otherwise, SHIELD would never have been able to eventually capture him.

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

I'm a bit surprised to hear the word 'silly' being used for this movie. Nothing in that clip looks silly. Silly is Dinner for Schmucks. Silly was Jonah Hex and I was lobbying for that film. THOR looks bad ass, not silly.

We saw very little, it appears, of what happens after Thor gets his hammer. Saw a brief second or so of him tossing the hammer in full armor and about as long clashing with Loki. So much yet to see for this movie. A 5min clip is still only what, 1/40th or so of the movie?

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

I mentioned this in the other Thor-related thread (the one about the Comic-Con footage being leaked), but the footage really isn't a trailer in the true sense of the word; it was specifically tailored to be presented to the fans at Comic-Con, and, as such, was not structured at all like a proper trailer. If any of the footage is later re-used in an actual trailer, it will then be presented in an order that gives a sense of the story.

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

Seriously, that footage was five minutes long. Way too long to be considered a trailer.

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

It also looked way too good for something shot surreptitiously at Comic-Con with a hand-held video camera.

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

that's because someone leaked what tehy're putting on the Blu-ray

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

It's leaked footage of a five minute presentation they showed just prior to the "Thor" panel at comic con. This has been stated before. It wasn't meant to be shown to anyone else except those people at the panel...thus the leakage. We will most likely get a proper teaser trailer sometime during the end of the year along with "Captain America:First Avenger" (which apparently an even shorter presentation was shown). What we saw though was indeed bad ass and not silly at all.

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

That footage looked amazing.

I hear they're releasing the movie in 3D? Why? I'm not seeing a movie in 3D that was not shot in 3D. I'll just stick with the normal version.

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

You don't like Clark Gregg? He's awesome.

I like to think that Coulson is an alias for his West Wing FBI character, Agent Casper.

Random trivia: Nobody puts Baby in a corner because she's married to Clark Gregg. :p

Early on, when Thor wipes the floor with a bunch of SHIELD agents, does he still possess super-strength, or is he "merely" doing what Batman could have done?

That depends. How much time does he have to prepare?

LOL
Bishop, my guess is based on the trailer so I don't know.
I think he still possess all the skills of a trained warrior through the ages he just isn't worthy of his own hammer. I think he is super strong just not yet proven worthy to wield perhaps a weapon that could enhance his power set.

When he does get the hammer, game on.

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

Yeah Thor still has all of his training and experience...he's just stripped of his godhood essentially. He's no longer worthy and has to spend his time on Earth learning humility.

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

I have a feeling that when we finally get that Avengers movie, there will be no doubt that Thor's strength is a distant third place, behind Hulk and Iron Man.
