Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea
I'm pretty mixed. I mean, it looks very well made, but it seems to want to mix the theatrics of something like Henry V with the superheroics of Iron Man. I've been told the Thor comics have been pretty silly and over-the-top in the course of their run, but I'm not sure how well that will translate here, because the trailer looked awfully silly and over-the-top.
However, I think it's really cool that we're seeing these superheroes cross-breeding and intersecting. Seeing Agent Coulson is just cool in my opinion, and Clark Gregg does a great job especially when he's using wonderfully dry humor. Referencing Stark and creating this multi-superhero universe seems really fresh and unique, but that was the only sense of excitement or joy I got out of the trailer, which admittedly does pretty much telegraph the entire movie. I mean, we even get Thor's banishment scene, however I imagine we'll be seeing that in a lot of forthcoming previews for the film since that part of the story is somewhat essential in getting across the whole idea of Thor.
Still, I wasn't impressed. I'm more cautiously optimistic but of course I'll still check out the film.
