Thor: Ragnarok

Thor: Ragnarok was already the only MCU movie I was actually excited about seeing, but this teaser trailer increased my anticipation. After a necessary (IMO) descent into darkness with the appropriately-named Thor: The Dark World, it looks like this film is going to return to the balance of light and dark that characterized the first Thor film, which brings with it another chance for Chris Hemsworth to show off how good he is at "deadpan comedy". I'm also really interested in seeing how Loki ends up figuring into the story (since it's not entirely clear based on the teaser).

It does make me a little sad that Jane, Darcy, Eric, Sif, and the Warriors Three are sitting this one out, especially if it's the last of Thor's solo films, but that's really a very minor 'gripe' that is driven more by personal attachment to those characters than anything else.

A thought occurs: Perhaps the reason why the Hulk attacks Thor is because he's being manipulated by Loki in some way, which be a node to the first Avengers comic.

I thought he could only do that with the Mind Stone, which is now protected by Vision?

Some sort of mental holography was his only way to visually fool people before and after that. He has no mind powers of his own.

I always wanted them to adapt part of the animated movie Hulk vs.Thor. Tought, It's a shame they never brought the Enchantress to the mix.

OK, that looks awesome! It definitely looks like it'll be very different from the first two Thor movie, but even though I liked the first two it doesn't bother me. I already liked the production design in the pictures they released, but it looks even better in actual clips.
There were some pretty good jokes in this, I especially "he's a friend from work" line.
I loved the music, and the 80s style effects for trailer text.
We didn't see much of them, but what we did see of the newbies, Hela, Valkyrie, and Grandmaster was good, I look forward to seeing more of them.

While I don't expect ot see Jane, Darcy, and Eric to return (I'll certainly miss Darcy), I wouldn't be surprised if Warriors Three show up in some smaller fashion. Jaimie Alexander posted a tweet awhile back that suggestion she might be in it in some form.

True, but I'm sure that's not the only way to perform mind control, especially for someone who literally took the appearance of another man.

Through...again, holograms. Hulk's eye's aren't blood shot or red like they were when he was mind controlled before.

The way he looks at Thor right before the fight is just Bruce mulling it over and deciding to fight anyway, it's him in there. He just doesn't want to die (since I'm guessing anyone who doesn't is killed outright and they could put down even him) and knows Thor can look after himself.

Because Suicide Squad sucked! :shifty:
Maybe, but let's not compare both Enchantress. Besides, SS Enchantress implied introducing an exagerated magical element into the plot (+Delevigne's even more exagerated and ridiculous performance). Here, we talk about Loki's partner and Thor's former lover in a mystical world. It would add another layer to the rivalry between those two.

The trailer looks good and I'm always up for some Led Zeppelin.

Color and eighties looking sci-fi. Good stuff.

Actaully, the cameo in his film sets him right in the middle Odin's search on Earth. I have no idea if he'll play a bigger role.

Yeah, I'm game!! That looks bloody amazing!! Even my girlfriend, who's kinda done with superheroes, got hyped straight away!

You know I always said Galadriel would have looked way more interesting if the actually took the One Ring...

Loved the trailer, though it amazes me that it took them three films to connect Thor with Heavy Metal. I'd say 'The Immigrant Song' is a very appropriate way to make up for lost time though. Because Vikings. ;)

Isn't Doctor Strange supposed to be in this film?
Yup.
Are you suggesting it's a bad thing that a trailer *doesn't* give away the whole movie?

We discussed this earlier in the thread. The post-credits scene in Doctor Strange has a long-haired Thor, and Thor has his hair cut when he's sent off to Shakaar, which happens relatively early in the film. Best guess based on everything we know is that Strange helps Thor find Odin, then Hela shows up, destroys Mjolnir, punts Thor to parts unknown and in general fucks shit up.

Sorry, I meant: "right in the middle of Odin's search on Earth". It's just that with this newbie status I can't edit my posts xD

Jeez so many characters, I really hate when people just disappear in sequels.

If it serves the storytelling, better to ditch ancillary characters rather than over-stuff the movie.
