Thor: Ragnarok

It is kind of funny to hear about all of this after everything that happened with the Han Solo movie. It's nice to see that Marvel is willing to take some chances on something different these days.
It sounds like Ragnarok will be the shortest MCU movie yet. I'm kind of surprised to hear that it's that short, it seems like a pretty jam packed movie. I just hope everything gets time to breath and develop, and that it doesn't just rush through it all.
It's pretty rare these days to get a big movie like this that is under 2hrs long.

Reads like its thin on plot, only acting as a quickie bridge to Infinity War, instead of being both a bridge and a personal story for the lead character (e.g. Captain America: Civil War).

OK, sorry I am a bit late...but I don't understand why people think the latest commercial is BETTER than the previous one?!?! The previous one had awesome music that was amazingly appropriate, action, and some great humor. I think it might have even been better than the ones for WOnder WOman and Guardians of the Galaxy 2.

Now, the new trailer for Thor, doesn't have that "uumph" for me. But, on the bright side, it has NOT made me doubt that Ragnarock will be good, and they added definitely new material (for me). So not a great job for me, but not a disaster.

Regarding running time....I am willing to be open about it being "short", as long as it doesn't feel that way.

Maybe the Hulk can explain it....

I have a feeling the movie will feel short no matter how long it is, like any good rollercoaster ride should.

Sometimes, I get the feeling that a lot of Marvel fans (or perhaps I should say the Marvel/Disney are threatened by the three movies released by DC Comics so far. These three movies signaled the end of the company's monopoly on a series of comic book movies based upon a collection of titles.
Ummm, there are many movie productions releasing CBMs along with Marvel. Sony and Fox the closest with it. IF by monopoly you mean mostly leading in critical or commercial success, letsjust say WB has yet to prove they are in Marvel's league.

The bashing for the DCEU has become utter ridiculous and excessive. I'm also beginning to suspect that those who had accused Disney/Marvel of paying off the critics to bad mouth ALL THREE DCEU movies that have been released so far . . . are right. Because this criticism has become over the top. It has now extended to "Wonder Woman" and "Justice League". And I also get the feeling that a good number of movie fans are buying this crap because it's the in thing to do. I had almost bought it myself.
DC movies have had their critic supporters and Marvel movies had their bashers as well. So they are paid as well. I think you have yet to grsp the concept that the majority of the movie audiences don't think of the DC movies as highly as you.
When "Man of Steel", "Batman v. Superman" and "Suicide Squad" first hit the theaters, I was reluctant to see all three, because I had stupidly accepted the bad opinions about them. Yet, I overcame my reluctance and went to see them, anyway. And when I finally saw those three movies, I enjoyed them. All of them. Very much. And that's when I realized that a film critic's opinion is worth dog shit. No more. I'm simply going to form my own opinion of any movie I am interested in seeing. And I refuse to be some mindless drone and accept the views of others simply because it's the in-thing to do.
I, for once, have yet to watch ANY of the DC movies in the theatres, save Wonder Woman. I saw them all on television or DVD, and ditto for the Marvel movies save Homecoming or Guardians of the Galaxy 2. The only reason I saw them in theatres was that they all were running coincidentally on the days of my unexpected holidays. And like you, I have yet to judge a movie on others opinions. In my own opinion, pre WW movies are definitely lacking.

By the way, I will miss Jane Foster and Darcy Lewis. I was never one of those fans who believe that a male or female co-star to a comic book hero or heroine had to be a "kick-ass" character as well.[/QUOTE]

How do you know? I don't think so. Are you a professional film critic? Regardless of whether you're a film critic or not, what makes you think that I'm automatically going to regard your opinions as facts? Because that is what they are . . . an opinion and not a fact. Frankly, this DCEU bashing is starting to make me sick to my stomach. And if it keeps up, I might find myself truly disliking the MCU. I've already been disappointed by its two releases in 2016.

Just because critics have different opinions than yours doesn't mean they're being paid off. At the risk of getting political for a moment, that's the same "paid protester" bullshit certain politicians dish out when they want to dismiss the concerns of citizens who disagree with them. Why don't we do critics the courtesy of assuming that they mean what they say--and not jump to the conclusion that they must be being bribed if we don't like what they're saying.

And I'm saying that as somebody who has novelized both Marvel and DC movies.
:techman:

I'm sorry but I find the excessive criticism of all three DCEU films so far rather odd. And yes, there are film critics who are not above being bribed to write a certain kind of opinion for newly released films. So yeah, I'm still suspicious. No wonder I have no faith in movie critics.
Like I said before, the same standards can be applied to the critics supporting DCEU movies as well
I'm happy for you that you have written novelizations of both Marvel and DC Comics films, but that doesn't mean anything to me. The only opinion I'm going to pay attention to is my own.
A little rude and haughty don't you think?

Warner Bros./DCEU will be releasing two movies this year. Disney/MCU will be releasing three. I plan to see all five this year. And I'll be damned if I pay attention to any film critics or movie goer . . . until after I have seen these movies.
I'm with you on that one.

Or it means it's tightly written and directed with no filler instead of wasting time with padding a story unnecessarily.

It does sound so innocent, friendly and childlike.

Which is why it's so damned brilliant

Hugo - Waititi forever!

I figured if she was going to appear it would be a small role. Glad she's confirmed to return.

She's probably been busy with Blindspot, so that explains the absence.

Plus, the reason she wasn't in Dark World much was because the actress was injured during shooting.
