This not that

The Mirrorball Man

Vice Admiral
Admiral
Actually it's...

"Rogue", not "rouge"
"Intact", not "in tact"
"Emperor", not "emporer"
"Should have", not "should of"
"Expat", not "ex-pat"
"Ridiculous", not "rediculous"
...

"Than" denotes choice.

I'd rather have this item rather than that item.

"Then" denotes sequence.

I will perform this action first then that action second.

Sincerely,

Bill

The " ' " (apostrophe) is used between a word and an "S" in order to suggest possession or ownership over something. It is also used to replace missing letters in a word or sequence of words in order to form a contraction. (cannot becomes "can't.")

The apostrophe is not used to make a singular noun a plural noun.

The one that bothers me more than anything else for some silly reason:

It's "lose", not "loose".

If you lose something, you should find it.
If you loose something, finding it should not be a priority, unless you loosed it so much that it fell off and rolled underneath the couch.

I call upon the bad spellers of the world to untie!
Shouldn't that be addressed to the dyslexics of the world?

Another one that gets under my skin: confusing all together with altogether; any way with anyway; any more with anymore.

"Sorry, we don't have any more widgets because the company doesn't manufacture them anymore." Different meanings.

The proper, historical pronunciation of Sikh is "sick" not "seek."
Now, that's just sikh!

And peace on you, my friend.

Regardless of the commas, I don't understand what he's saying. The quotation marks are different sizes, I guess, but I have no idea what the point of that would be, nor do I know how to accomplish it with my keyboard.

It's "lose", not "loose".
If your girlfriend is staggering to the bar, and your friend says: "lose girl." That's someone you want to get rid of.

If a girl you've never seen before is is staggering to the bar, and your friend says: "loose girl." That's someone you want to get to know.

:)
