This may be a weird question but...

...for those of you who have lost a lot of weight have any of you gotten stretch marks either from when you gained the weight or form when you lost it? I have them on my arms and while they're not all that noticeable it's still enough to irritate me. Does anyone know how to get rid of 'em.

I figured this being the fitness forum and this being a weight related question some of you folks might know.

A stretch mark is a type of scar. Sadly, there's not a whole lot you can do with stretch marks after you've already got them unless you want to pay for laser removal treatments or surgery. There are creams and lotions you can buy, but they're not considered to be very effective.

My husband got stretch marks in his teens - he grew more than a foot in about a year. He's in his 40s now and he's still got 'em, so yeah, I think you're pretty much stuck with them. I mean, there are things that you can do, as you can for any other scar, but I expect it would take some sort of cosmetic surgery.

There are supposed to be some things that help women who get stretch marks from pregnancy...I think some of them help a bit, but not that much.

Yes, my body is pretty much covered in stretch marks, unfortunately. I got them when I was a kid growing both vertically and horizontally.

I have them in odd places (knees, shoulders, back) from growing too fast as a teenager too.

They tend to fade a lot over time and in a few years probably won't be as noticeable to others as they are to you. Unfortunately, they won't entirely go away.

If you're really bummed out by them your best bet to hide them is a decent spray tan.
