Spoilers Things you LOVE about DSC so far

I like that it has me truly excited to see what happens next, in a way that The Orville, which is strictly episodic, hasn't matched. And of course, the production value is incredible, even if I'm not happy with some of the design decisions.

Loved the USS Europa (Admirals Starship), and am interested to see what this starship would look like in diecast form!

Even though we haven't seen the USS Discovery yet (in these x2 eps) I love the design she has become, and cannot wait to acquire either the Hallmark or Eaglemoss versions - or both!!!

:)

Another "wow" was that the Europa destroyed herself in that moment.

Yeah - that shocked me somewhat. Seemed like a drastic move, which I guess was an attempt to take the Klingon ship in one final act. It all happened quite quickly as well.

I thought I saw escape pods flying past the Europa, although they could have been more Klingon vessels, which were coming out of warp, in the next shot after the explosion.

I liked the first two episodes and the fact that it begins its story arc right away will probably be a good thing since most of us have gotten used to that form of storytelling.

Totally agree about the Klingons. They actually feel dangerous and threatening again. Almost scary. In the other Trek shows, I felt like they'd almost become parodies of themselves. They were like a hair metal band or something.
I liked the fact - though some did not - that the Klingon's speech was so guttural - so harsh - even when speaking in 'English' - as opposed to the usual mix of cod Shakespearean and' Bad 1950's Pirate'

Agree...like I've said...they were ALIEN as opposed to guys in makeup acting like aggressive stereotypes.

Burnham's potential. Saru himself. The look of the Shenzhou. The bold decision to start out with a two-hour prologue in the vein of Babylon 5's "The Gathering" rather than a more traditional pilot. The uniforms. The opening credits. Voq. (I'm intrigued by this dude.) Kor. The budget.

Stuff I like so far (in list form):
- Captain Georgiou

- The Shenzou

- Michael Burnham

- The theme

- Sarek

- The expansion of Klingon culture

- The uniforms

- Saru

- Michael's PTSD leading her to take actions similar to those undertaken by Tuvok in "Prime Factors", albeit more physical and more direct

- Saru's cowardly/pacifist personality and the way it clashes with Michael's personality

- Voq

- The producers' choice to intentionally mirror/mimic "The Cage" versus "Where No Man Has Gone Before" and Babylon 5's "The Gathering" versus "Midnight on the Firing Line" with a "slow burn prologue" Pilot

Now that you mention it, Robert Newton would have made a great TOS Klingon.

I loved the image of the Shenzhou when I first saw her. I like the prospect of a new star ship (Discovery) and a new Captain. I have hopes for Michael and am pleased she isn't a pacifist wuss.
