Things you hate about DS9?

Stormrage

Rear Admiral
I love DS9 it was much better then several "certain trek shows".

But to tell the truth there were few moments that made me cringe with embarrassment and made me want to hide behind the sofa and delude my self that I didn't not just see this scene happen.

1: Profit and Lace. I don't want to be harsh or anything but I seriously hope that the late Michael Piller was high from the meds he got for his Cancer when he predicted that this episode was going to be a classic.

2: To much focus on humans.

3: Good guys always win. God that made sick.

4: Kira the warrior. I liked Kira but all her "beat up people way bigger then me that could probably crush her easily if this show was realistic" crap kind of made me resent her.

3: Good guys always win. God that made sick.
You much be sick of the other Trek series, then. :wtf: The good guys had a much cleaner win-lose ratio on the other series. At least DS9 made an attempt to show csualities and grittiness.

The only thing that really, truely irks me was the whole W/D bit. worf became the jealous lover and Dax becomes a frivoulous and pretty insensitive bitch. "Let He Who Is Without Sin" is pretty much the epitome of that, and is probably the only episode of Trek I like even less than Enterprise's revolting finale.

-Dukat's storyline in season 7.

-The Mirror Universe episodes. "Crossover" was okay, but I wish they would've left it at that.

There are a few other things I wasn't thrilled with, but I wouldn't go so far as to say I hated them.

romance episodes
most of the Ferengi comedy hours
the fact that the Prophets saved the day in SoA
that the show wasn't serialized more in season six
Jadzia being a weak character

Not much, er, uh...
A) Dossi
B) Wadi    :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :scream: :scream
C) (Agree) Dukat's end in S7 was really stupid and unbecoming of Trek's greatest villan
D)Dax's death-there had to be a better way than that
E) Sisko, I wished, would have elected to go to be w/the Prophets, but for only a short time-then back w/the homies on DS9
F)End of the Dominion War was way to clean and sterile

Nothing I truly "hate", actually. There were some episodes that make me wonder why on earth they got made but nothing to hate.
I do with they'd continued past S7. The show still had so much left to tell and was at its strongest in S7 IMHO.

Actually they were gonna use a better way, they were gonna have Dukat brutally execute her. But Berman wouldn't let them and hence we are left with the total crap "death scene" that is now there.

Although I say it would have been way better to have killed Jadzia off before she ever got to be a "regular cast member".

Things I hate about DS9:

1. Both Dax characters - totally useless, 100% irrelevant to the show, and incredibly obnoxious in my view. Not once did any of them say anything even remotely interesting, or worthy of saying. To add insult to injury, let's be frank, Terry Farrell is hands-down the worst actress on the show. The other actors/actresses on the show have cut their teeth on theatre and real acting well before DS9. They were chosen for their acting ability, Farrell was not, and it shows.

2. Horrible episodes that are sprinkled throughout every season, ie: Profit & Lace, Melora, Chrysalis, Time's Orphan, every single episode that has Lwaxana Troi in it. There are many, many others. I skip every one of these episodes each time they come up.

3. Not nearly enough Weyoun, Kai Winn, Dukat and Garak. These four are way too awesome characters to be given only guest roles. They easily out-shine most of those on the "main cast", it seems unjust they would have gotten paid way less than the "main actors", when their actual impact was way more.

4. Hideous noses on the Bajorans. Can't stand looking at any Bajoran. I wish Dukat would have ordered every single one of them to be surgically altered to fix their hideous noses so that they wouldn't be an eyesore assaulting my eyes all the time.

5. Kira's bitchiness in the early seasons. Puts her right on par with Keiko O'Brien.

6. Keiko O'Brien. Totally useless character who is incredibly bitchy 100% of the time even though she is not supposed to be. Easily one of the most obnoxious characters ever put on-screen. Knowing that she had almost as much appearances in the series as true greats like those in item #3 above is very disturbing.

7. Dominion should have won the Dominion War. The hokey, rushed, cornball ending of the Founder surrendering for no reason even after she just said she would fight to the last man and having been subject to Odo's pro-solid propaganda via many previous linkings - was a huge cop-out. It may have been necessary for the sake of "Letting other Trek IP's ignore DS9". But in terms of DS9 itself it totally doesn't work.

8. Ruining of the Ferengi race. What happened to IDIC? They took a perfectly great race and then turned them into a carbon-copy of humans. Saying that being different from humans is "bad" and eventually the "normal" course of history is for every race to become exactly like humans. Such pro-human propaganda like this belongs on a lesser show like Enterprise, but not DS9. DS9 did a great job showing how screwed up humans are, like when Quark and Laas point it out, then flushed that all down the drain by ruining the Ferengi race.

9. The fubaring of Dukat. This was a real shame and insult to how DS9 built up deep characters in shades of gray. The decision to fubar Dukat was insane. It will go down in history as one of the biggest fubars of all-time.

10. Space battles were not engaging like in "Balance of Terror" from TOS, because it never shows the enemy bridge during them. This results in the "enemy ships" always being generic and having no personality whatsoever. "Balance of Terror" had it right by showing the enemy bridge during space fights, DS9 should have done this too instead of using the worse formula that they did.

11. Not enough space battles. Definitely not enough usage of DS9's weapons.

12. Unrealistic fight scenes. As mentioned in the OP. Especially with Kira who is the worst offender. The fight scenes in DS9 are always corny and unrealistic. Ie: A character grabbing his own wrist and then "bopping" someone else whilst grabbing his own wrist apparently imbues god-like strength into the wrist-grabbing bopper. Kira even knocks Damar out-cold by flailing her hands around Damar's face a few times, with each comes with a very loud & very cheesy "BAM!" sound inserted by the FX guys - even though she never actually touches him during any of these hand flails. She does this a few times and the knockout blow is her holding her hands together and bopping him on his upper back?! What the heck?! LOL

I was not especially wild about the episode with Iggy Pop. I didn't think he made a very good Vorta. I realize he's not really an actor, but--I think if they were determined to use Iggy Pop, they should have found some other role for him. Pretty much ANY other role.

I loved "The Magnificent Ferengi" (it's in my top five), but that's despite Iggy Pop. I don't think he did a bad job with the role, but I wasn't overly impressed by his performance.

1. Most of the Ferengi-centric episodes.

2. How huamns, though physically weaker than warrior races like Klingons and Jem H'dar are always able to knock them unconscious in about 5 seconds when fighting several at a time.

3. The use of stock battle footage in the finale!

4. The reveal that Gul Dukat and Kira's mom were lovers. Totally out of the blue, lame, and violates established facts about Kira and Dukat.

5. The non-linear aspect of the Prophets. It was impossible to maintain, and so we see them acting in lear ways all the time.

6. Sisko's mom = Prophet-in-human form. Violates the first episode where the Prophets don't understand corporeal existence, nor do they know who Sisko is.

Still loved the show.

By the way I just remembered something. The mirror episodes. I understand that these episodes were meant to be a joke but they never ever made sense. They always portrayed the Klingons-Cardassians has evil people who can't really fight humans from the alternate world and please. Do not get me started on the missing cloak technology.

Oh and Jadzia sucked. She just irritated. She was hot but I prefer actors that can act instead.

I do agree that DS9 was much better then other trek series. For example in the ENT episode Divergence. There was a battle between several Klingon ships and two Earth Ships (enterprise was one of them). The writes expected me a fine young man studying science to accept that Humans who have been in space for less then 4 years. Can somehow build ships that can defeat ships from an empire who's main business is war and conquering and has spent the last 1200 years fighthing.

But still DS9 did offend. For example the Second Klingon - Federation war. I only saw 1 episode that truly showed how powerful the klingons were (Nor the Battle to the Strong - but they didn't show any human bodies just klingons which didn't make any sense). The rest of that war ended up showing Humans constantly defeating klingons.

Well it is possible that the Klingons used the vaporize setting on their disrupters. Hence no bodies, I stretch I know.

It is possible but in a episode where you keep hearing how much damage they are causing. It seems kind of deflating to see no human bodies in the battlefield.

I just remembered something from Season 1. A valuable shipment was coming through DS9. It was a life or death shipment and if it didn't go through an entire world would die. Quark was warned to not to try anything. What happened? The very next scene. You can see him planning robbery at the middle of the night with his minions. I loved watching that moment and i found it funny.

I'm pretty sure the Founder surrendered because Odo said he would return to the Great Link and knowing that when he returned, their people would be healed.

^

But Odo would have returned anyways regardless of her not surrendering. Because Odo's nature would compel him to stop a genocide. The Female Founder definitely would have understood that too.

I worship the show.
But if I must name something, it'd have to be that episode when Sisko was missing, and Worf was commanding the Defiant, and he had 52 hours or so to locate Sisko, because he had to protect some convoy when time ran out, and of course time did run out, and Worf decided to abandon the search, as Kira ordered him to do.
And then Julian (humane kinda guy, medical docter, etc...) would gladly have Worf continue to search for Sisko and let 1000s of Federation troops die, just to save one man!
Man, I hated that. So out of character. Such dreaful writing. Bashir would never do that.
In another episode, he was willing to have the Federation surrender (after some genetically enhanced calculations), to sacrifice an x amount, to save billions.
So for him, the more people you save, the better. Of course.
But WHY OH WHY was he so out of character in that one episode????? It still pisses me off.

HEAR, HEAR! Finally someone who believes the same as me.

I don't agree with everything you said, but I also agree with Keiko's bitchiness and ruining the Ferengi.
That was so annoyning, suddenly the Ferengi had become human. :(
