What was wrong with the chase?
An alien race, with billions of years ahead of us in terms of knowledge and science, seeding life on other worlds is not far fetched at all, in fact, as a ufologist, with some of the interesting and amazing things I've seen personally, such a thing is not to far fetched at all. What was wrong with the chase?
Oh my... Where to begin..
First: I stopped watching TOS halfway because I could not stand that hippie ideology. No one is realy evil and if you fight it is all a missunderstanding, we are all brothers realy.
(but I promise to finnish it ..one day)
Second: My knowledge of evolution says that the only way of having humanoids spread all over the galaxy with only chewinggumnoses telling them appart is if they all imigrated from one planet and then got isolated. (those who have read foundation knows what I mean).
Conclusion: The Chase is too inn your face with that hippie thing. And that seed of life would just not work as envisioned. No matter how encodet the DNA was. Evolution just dont work that way.
There you have it

1. I'd rather they didn't. What is there to explore? They are omnipotent entities who either avoid other races or pester them for fun. Besides, unless the Q they made contact with was an attractive woman in a skimpy outfit, I'm not sure how interested Kirk would be.!) The Q continuum - Kirk would never leave that mystery unresolved.
2) the Talosians et al. - The Metrons, etc.
3) The Romulans - Vulcan connection and mystery.
4) the founding of the Federation (still) and from another perspective maybe.
