Things that need to be explored

!) The Q continuum - Kirk would never leave that mystery unresolved.

2) the Talosians et al. - The Metrons, etc.

3) The Romulans - Vulcan connection and mystery.

4) the founding of the Federation (still) and from another perspective maybe.

Re:Q.

Kirk met a lot of superpwoeered beings in TOS and he never followed up on them, so why would he follow up on Q if he met one?

I agree with CaptainMatt...
  • Trelane's people?
  • The Metrons?
  • The Caretaker (Shore Leave Planet)?
  • The Organians?
  • The Guardian of Forever?
  • Apollo?
  • The Megans?
etc...

Agreed on the Romulans. We haven't yet seen the founding of the Federation from any significant perspective, but that's also a good idea.

thank you

What does Kirk have to do with the Q Continuum? And what "mystery" do they have?

2) the Talosians et al. - The Metrons, etc.
Again, what's so mysterious about them?

3) The Romulans - Vulcan connection and mystery.
Romulus went boom. Unless you're talking about nuRomulus. I would suspect they're no different than the TOS Romulans, whom we already know all about.

4) the founding of the Federation (still) and from another perspective maybe.
From whose perspective? And why retread something we already saw in ENTERPRISE?

Some things are better left to the imagination. Do we really need/want everything spoon-fed to us?

I'm tired of the idea of "super aliens" like Q and pretty tired of the Romulans and other "legacy races" as well. There are numerous other races that have some history in Star Trek but that have not been investigated too much.

I think the mystique is part of what makes the Romulans interesting, but YMMV.

Mystique only goes so far before it segues into boredom. Rommies are past that point.

If the Romulans are in the story, then obviously it's in some place or time where they haven't gone boom.

And no, we don't know much about the TOS Romulans, at least nothing of any real substance. Unless you're saying that the Rommies are substance-less and generic. That would be disappointing.
And why retread something we already saw in ENTERPRISE?

Because it was done badly and can be greatly improved upon?

Klingons don't have any mystique left. What they have is incoherence - are they the nasty TOS guys or the hi-larious space pirates of TNG onwards? Personally I can see the value of both (does anyone not love Martok?) and the divergence can be chalked up to different centuries. It's okay if they're not static.

Hi :) Long time lurker, first time poster.

Well... if the next, if ever, series are gonna be post Voyager the obvious main storyarc should be technology, mainly AI.
Through the Trekseries AI and holo and replicator tech has wastly improved. In Voy, a recurrent theme were AI selfawerenes, hologram rights and even a holo rebellion.

So maybe the next main villains could be a selfaware HoloCiv that can replicate whole starships and AIwarheads ...?

On this at least, we are in agreement.
