Things that need be done with a new Star Trek show

Or, follow the continuity of the Abrams movies. It's a whole new sandbox to play in, but similar enough to the one we already know that it still means something.

True but u have to make sure u don't mess up Abrams and his continuity so u might be better off waiting until he gets to his last movie before going with a new show. Although who knows he might have really indepth Bible with History Plotted Out. Still safer to move into the future of that versus as well since that lessens damage.

With just two hours of screen time, there's not much continuity to mess up. Seems like an easy enough assignment.

Unless Abrams has some master plan to launch a TV series he hasn't told us about, I don't see why he'd bother to plot much history beyond the confines of the actual movie scripts. And even if he has, anything that hasn't been committed to screen can be changed.
