Things that make their way to you

Have you ever had something that you searched and searched for turn up when you least expected after you had stopped looking for it? It could be something that you had lost, or was stolen or something that you desperately wanted to buy but could not find.

Back in 1992 (or maybe 1993) wanted a copy of an edition of the LIFE magazine that had an article about the Andes Survivors. A friend told me he had read the article a few months before but he didn't keep the magazine.

This was before I was on the internet. I went to the library but they didn't have a copy, I asked at various newsagencies but they weren;\'t helpful.

Then one day, a few months later, an newsagency was offering bags of 10 magazines for $2.00. It was similar to a lucky dip and the newsagent said there was different assortments of magazines in each plastic bag. I bought two bags. I ended up with 18 different magazines (and two copies each of two magazines that were in both bags). In one of the bags was the LIFE magazine I had wanted so much :).

Well this isn't quite the same as what you mean but sometimes I can suddenly start thinking about old films i've not seen for years and years and then within a week or two it comes on television.

I think that that is similar enough to fit into this topic. After all those films did 'make their way to you".

Sure, there are times when I put an item in a place that didn't occur to me until later on, like sunglasses in my camera bag or my Nolan Ryan baseball card in a photo album.

One time I wanted this Dvd for my collection...I mentioned it to my Aunt and BAM. A month later I opened up a Christmas gift and what do ya know. There it was. And I know it was a coincidence. Cause it said from Santa...not my Aunt...:techman::rommie::devil:

I wanted one of the old cast iron type radiators for house heating for a solar collector experiment. No one had one and those that were selling new were outragiously priced. One day while taking some scrap metal to the dump. I saw one there in the pile. My dad and I loaded it up and brought it home. It works fine. Technically you are not allowed to take things from the dump (scavenging) but I did anyways.

I once misplaced a necklace for about a year. One of my sisters had given it to me. I finally told her I'd lost it and the next day I was finding it in a suitcase lining.

A similar thing happens to me too, but with music. I have a thought about a particular song or recording artist, sometimes in the most abstract way possible, and then moments later that song or artist appears on the radio.

When I was a kid, I lost one of the transforming guns on one of my toys (Nightstick, the gun that came with Targetmaster Cyclonus, for the truly nerdy TF fans amongst the readers).

He turned up a couple of years later, in the bottom of a big jar of nails, washers, bolts, etc. I figure he must just have been looking for a quick screw...

Wow, Holdfast, I have to grant you this: your dirty joke-fu is galaxy class. I mean it finds it way everywhere. (A bit like those things from the thread title.)

Dear God, I almost typoed "Goldfast". That would've been too much.
