Things that frustrate us all

In the UK the government is to ban 'buy one get one free' on so called unhealthy food.

They are also banning the likes of McDonald's advertising before 9pm in the evening.

The aim of course is to stop people, and children, being unhealthy. But..what happened to personal responsibility?

I enjoy junk food from time to time, if I see a bogof offer then great..let me make the decision to buy and eat when I want it.

Surely people can sensibly make their own choices?

I love the new iPhone colors, they're different and exciting when everyone else is... sleep-inducing gray or black or generic pastels where most of the time they're out of stock. Everyone also does silver and everyone does pale/muted/desaturated/pastel hues. It's lovely to have some choices.

It's very nice seeing bolder colors again; and adding case over that allows some contrast as well as reducing the chance of scuffs or breakage, even on the most robust models. A brown or green case, especially with black bezels, for the orange phone really pops. Or, again with using black bezels (when possible) opposite using gold, green or orange case for the blue phone, for two examples of many pleasing combinations. The blue phone with a clear case having black bezels with Qi/Magsafe gold rings look truly stunning.

Clear cases, those with high enough drop ratings with raised lip around the edges ( >= 3mm recommended, especially for tarmac surfaces such as parking lots) really showcase both color and complement beautifully. Silver being neutral will go with anything so get one that looks like a bunch of overlaid "dizzy daisies" from the late-60s imprinted on it and voila. Actually, the translucent color isn't a factor as much as the material is, but usually it's the edges and lip going over the surface are what count by far the most. The backing material could otherwise be plastic, titanium, kevlar, kryptonite, etc, as any of those help against even minor scuff risks (but obviously stronger material for the backing lessens the chance of scuffs or breakage that much more). Titanium vs kevlar is a chapter in of itself...

Of course, if every phone was just black or just white, the cases all have those hues to choose from, but the phone having the color with case offering the contrast just looks best, IMHO, YMMV, EIEIO, etc.

What bugs me most, is how many cases don't offer enough cushioning, thinner lip, incomplete chassis coverage leaving areas exposed*, with other customers also reporting that their $90 case either felt cheap, didn't feel snug against the phone, scratched the phone because the hard plastic was against the metal instead of the softer material, and/or the cushioning material didn't protect well enough from a 5' drop and now they have a spider web-shaped crack from the corner, making the task of finding a proper case even more fun. At least for some, others get frustrated.

* which can be good or bad, depending on heat dissipation requirements based on how the phone is engineered, as long as the main components and microchips get enough heat moved away from them to prevent throttling, that's the main issue. Not letting the chassis get so warm that you can fry an egg on it is the next consideration and on my Android that's happened a couple times, especially when in full sunlight.

Was behind a slow driver on the freeway I should’ve passed but I stayed put waiting for the right lane to come into existence because I was going to take an upcoming exit. New right lane appears, turning my right lane into the center lane , so I switch lanes and intend to pass, but slow driver decides he needs to take the exit that’s right there and cuts me off as he crosses two lanes at once. He never signaled either.

Hearing low-I.Q. stupid people talk about others, calling them/texting them -- or are lecturing others via phone, about bothering them and how busy they are and on how they can't get anything done.

You're the fuckwit who is taking time to stop your busy work and look at texts.

You're the fuckwit who keeps answering the phone.

You're the fuckwit who leaves the phone on while so super super busy.

The new technician Just Doesn't Get It!
And I'm not talking about fixing flat tires, I'm talking about not being able to read the room.
I'm at the front counter trying to bill out a customer and he's standing behind me, tapping me on my shoulder, wanting to check in from lunch, saying "Hurry up. I don't want to be late."
I finally turned to him and snapped, "I'm with a customer. Go use the computer in the shop to check in."
Then he had the nerve to yell at me for being rude.
And it's not the first time he's done it.
I'll be on the phone or with a customer and he'll come up and stand beside me saying, "Hey, I need your help."
I can't be pulled away from the front desk.
He needs to learn how to do it himself.

I've been so stupid, ever since I started school I didn't feel like part of the class. On the first week people already made friends, and created a group chat that I was not a part of. I felt disappointed but I thought this is normal and I can always ask to join the group.

So I did, and I helped several members of the group with problems and questions to become more popular. Turns out people took advantage of it, because we needed to make groups of three and nobody wanted to pair up with me. So I was stuck with the ones that didn't have a group yet, and I hated my team.

One member spend like 10 minutes on the toilet and then texted almost the whole time while she should pay attention to the exercise. second member was more helpful thankfully, but it was not fun and I will not help my fellow students anymore because I don't appreciate being taken advantage of.

Also, people who still ask for directions and not use google maps, boomers I understand but millenials? It's 2026 in a few months, for crying out loud! Technology is a thing, use it!

^^^ I see that. Almost exclusively odd guys who think everyone else is deaf. they want to use a large map, or want somebody to look up directions. Yoohoo, Mr. Outsidevoice, there's a computer right there with internet service -- multiple online map options including Google Maps.

Or one guy who comes in who wants to look up images or things. It's like, you ever heard of Google Images?

I'm of the boomer generation and I prefer not to use google maps because I know how to read real maps. As in maps made of real, physical paper.

As in I don't need a satellite to tell me which way is north, south, east, or west.
