Things that frustrate us all

It's starting to look like whatever is going on with my bladder/kidney is not just a UTI, I've been to three different doctors/nurse practioners, tried to different antibiotics, and had three negative cultures, and I'm feeling a little better but it hasn't gone away completely. I go to see my urologist tomorrow, so hopefully he'll do some more in dept tests and figure out what's going on. And on top of that, the car has been leaking something the last few days, and it turns out it's the oil tank or pump, and it's going to be around $2300, which is a ton of money for us. Since our car is over 20 years old and no one around has parts that old, my mom had to get a rental car, which is another $300.
I'm figuring the way out luck seems to be going, it's probably going to turn out I've got cancer or my already bad kidney is failing or something like that.

Re: Humming - I remember hearing something like a motor underneath my floor and some vibrations with it one day. Still don't know what it was. Creeped me out at the time. Heard of people hearing hums before but not this.

I had to reinstall my entire PC due to what started as a relatively minor error but every attempt to fix it just made it progressively worse. Windows update screwed up a driver that I thought could be repaired with the DISM tool, but it couldn't find a file to restore it from, so Microsoft suggested I use a bootable Windows 11 installer USB stick instead, which promptly corrupted the boot volume of my hard drive so badly that not even formatting it could make it work.

The only reasons it didn't end in a total disaster were that the files themselves are perfectly fine so I could save a backup to my laptop, and I could reinstall Windows to my brand new SSD that I originally bought to extend my storage space. Still, having to reinstall every app you had on your second hard drive because the fresh Windows doesn't have their registry keys is a chore I'd rather not spend my entire Thursday evening with. At least Steam recognized its own install and marked all my games as already installed.

Yikes. Windows Update is just terrible. I ended up having to install a batch file to prevent the updates. My old computer is out of date in terms of parts, so I didn't want to take any chances. Don't trust them with updates, apart from maybe security ones.

My mother just wrote a six-verse poem trying to mimic the style of her favorite poet, in which she voices her dramatic lamentations about me and my sister not calling her on the phone often enough.

Not to ridicule, but I think your mother just wrote a crackerjack treatment for the next off-Broadway play, or Indi- award-winner at Sundance!

Hmmm...bleed-over from a parallel universe power source/...maybe also a Sundance or Cannes winner...???

Uh, I am afraid I am not getting the reference in either comment. I know 'Sundance' and 'Cannes' is are film festivals, right? *confused*

...pro'ly went tooo deep with my FunnyBoy!

Was thinking the idea of a Mother doing a play about her children not calling her, and doing it on-stage or in a movie and in rhyme would be pretty popular and funny...

...nevermind...not enough coffee, clearly!

Hallmark Christmas movies. Need I say more? :barf:

Seriously. If you want to destroy your liver, if you want to become a washed-up drunk, if you want to die drooling in a refrigerator carton, here's what you do:

Come up with a Hallmark Christmas movie drinking game.

My mom and daughters enjoy them.

Thankfully, they don't drink. I have no objections to them.

What kind of building? Any water pumps or central air units?

ETA: So, wife just bought brand new tires for our truck for winter. She calls me up and says, "Tire's flat." She takes it to the mechanic and a fucking spade bit was driven through the tread. No repair. Only blessing is that the spare is actually a new tire and can be used with the rest of the new tires.

Hate hearing the mechanic go, "never seen that before." :brickwall::brickwall::brickwall:

My visit with the urologist was a little disappointing, we barely spent five minutes with him, and left blood and urine samples, and then set up appointments for other CT scan and another test, and the test and follow up aren't going to be until January. My mom pointed out that it must a good sign he isn't that concerned, but I was really hoping to be closer or at least start working on figuring out what's going on so I'm not in pain any more at today's appointment. Sometimes the medical system is really irritating.

Every now and then, I'll be pulling something out from the back of the dishwasher, won't clear the overhead and chip it. Completely inconsequential, but chipped anything gets to me if I think about it.

I live in an apartment house with no one living below. Just ground/dirt. No central air. Have an AC but it was not running. It was not light sounding. It was very apparent. So were the vibrations. More like a motor than I hum like I said. Disconcerting. I even looked if there was a truck outside. Nothing. We don't have water pumps near here.

Neither of my parents are computer literate and they refuse to learn. You can't explain anything to them and if they ever do something wrong, it's the technology's fault, not theirs. If they come to the wrong conclusion about why they can't do something, then that's the reason and it's impossible to get them to think differently.

Frustrations come in all shapes and sizes.

In the very first days of Bitcoin I just went on a buying spree, hoarding enough (diamondhanding) for whatever reason.
When I saw the upticks around 2010 I was willing to give away a bunch to some of my closest friends and family.
"It's a hassle" "What's a crypto wallet?" "Nah man I don't need something illegal" "What's the catch?"

I gave up and didn't bother anyone further. FFWD to 2016 and every single one of those idiots kept hounding me on how to start "the crypto business".
You can't help certain people no matter how hard you try.

My first world problem of the day:

Why does it seem when you try to order coffee at Dunkins with the unsweetened flavor shots, 20% of the time they put in the overly sweet syrups instead? And to make it worse, because the flavor shot I want is not sweetened, I ask for two sugars, making it even more cloyingly sweet. (Oh, and sometimes even if you specify two sugars, they still put in the default mountain of sugar.)

When this happens the result is undrinkable, but maybe I did not realize their error until I was two minutes out on the highway and can't go back and ask them to fix it.

I can't use LED bulbs in any fixture in my house or garage, yet they're the only kind of bulbs you can fucking BUY these days.

On that note, I have a huge problem with those new LED headlights that are becoming more and more common on the road these days. I have a light sensitivity, and those headlights are blindingly bright. I keep worrying that someday they're going to cause me to have an accident or something.
