Things that frustrate us all

FEMA workers are being threatened by armed militias. Linky

These right wing whackos need to be put down. No mercy. They have no shame, and no brains. The State should not have to put up with this shit.

At this point I don't even know who's more fucking stupid - antivaxxers, or people who actually think the government controls the weather.
It really scares me that we've actually come to a point where this kind of shit is actually happening in the US.

Spending your entire morning working from home and anxiously waiting for the utility company to perform the mandatory annual electricity meter inspection, up to an entire hour after the scheduled time had passed, only for your landlord (who had reminded you to stay available for the inspection all day) to call you and sheepishly admit that he totally forgot that he'd already made the report himself in the official phone app.

Sadly, it's happened throughout US history.

People get in to scary situations and become protectionist over their stuff. I recall a story of one person refusing a government order to evacuate from Mt. St. Helens and died in the eruption.

We have hit a period where we again do not trust each other or the government. COVID exposed long held weaknesses of those beliefs, that we can't trust our fellow human, and can't trust the government to always tell us the truth.

Medicare in the US making a big deal to announce that October 15 is the start of the open enrollment date to change plans. Guess what they decide to do on the first day of open enrollment?

We're currently making updates to Medicare.gov.
Check back again soon.

I was checking out plans for 2025 two weeks ago and am ready to change Part D drug coverage and the site was working then. Shouldn't you have all your updates before October 15?

Our good vacuum cleaner, the one that makes cleaning the floors a pretty quick job, the one that we got only about 3 years ago, now trips the fuses whenever we plug it in. :scream:

First it happened in hubby's office and today, it happened in my office. I had to pull our old Mighty Might vacuum out and use it throughout the whole house. It works pretty well but is small only works on the floors, not the carpet. Damn it.

That sucks...

Strange.

Did the plug go bad? I had one where the ground broke off and it would trip the fuse.

I’m one week back to school(I had a break for 3 weeks) and I just had the PSATs first thing today.
Took up several hours and finally finished, my brain’s cooked and learned… I had several quizzes after. :wtf:
Didn’t do so well on them, and I think I bombed a few. Off to a quite a rocky start…

I'm beginning to think it's the vacuum-- at least I hope it is. I would assume that, if it was the wiring, it would happen every time I plugged the vacuum in. However, I used it last week with no problem. Maybe something is loose or worn out in the vacuum cleaner? I'm able to use our little Mighty Mite vacuum -- still works, and doesn't trip the fuses, but it isn't great on the carpeted bedrooms.

Vacuums can indeed be very dangerous....

Had my lunch today and on the bus back to work there was a woman with a horrible, wet, phlegmy smokers cough.
Literally made my stomach sick.:barf:
Smokers...something seriously mentally challenged there.

I was talking to my Mom this afternoon before her and Wink go on their European vacation. She works for Vail Ski Resorts at Winter Park, CO. She told me that she received an email from Vail Resorts, which owns and operates Winter Park saying that as a "cost saving measure" they've eliminated the Human Resources Department and laid off all the staff. Any complaints or injuries that Mom, Wink or any employee might have to report will now be filed online with a third-party company. Mom said that she and Wink have already committed to this year's ski season, but this was the last straw; they're turning in their notices at the end of ski season.

Twitter is soooo dumb. Locking me out of my own account when I try to log in on my own phone. Only use my mom's when my phone is acting up. Found out they don't like it and I get it with strangers, but it's annoying when someone has a reason to use more than one phone.

My phone gets ghost touches sometimes, so it makes it hard to use websites.

They can lock me out, but yet can't help my mom get back her old account. Their incompetence reins supreme.

:scream: :biggrin: :brickwall::censored:

I think I'm going to have to go back into the doctor again, I still keep feeling sick, and I can't figure out for sure why. I'm still not sure if it's my diet or something else, so I think I'm gonna have to just give in and go back to the doctor. I did seem to feel better when I got first antibotics and then steroids from the doctors, so I'm hoping maybe I can just get on a longer or stronger dose of one of them.
