Things that frustrate us all

Speaking of annoying fireworks...

Last night, the next door to our right had 6 or 7 kids (none of them could have been older than, say, 22) firing REALLY loud and massive fireworks. Strong enough that it was setting off our house alarms. I went to the back and told them those fireworks were too close and setting off alarms, and that some of those had a real danger of catching our house and theirs on fire. (They were being fired VERY close in their yard... easily could have misfired and burned them or us.)

So they ended up moving their firework party to the street out front. (shakes head)

I'm not one to trample on a party, but there's a line.

Still couldn't hurt to try.
I don't disagree.

I don't see it going away. I despite fireworks in all forms, and have for 30 years. I do not enjoy thunder storms. I don't enjoy the idiots with the stupid loud cars/trucks/motorcycles because it's very painful. But, banning them will just lead to people flaunting it when they get the chance.

I'd love a ban. I also have the experience of seeing a state try and failing.

What are "local guide" reviewers on Google? They seem to randomly review places all over the world that they can't possibly have visited, and the write-ups are so generic to the point of pointlessness. I just came across a "local guide" that gave a poor review to a restaurant.... months after it had burned down.

Are you sure you don’t live in Hawaii?

Yeah, that's pretty close to what it sounded like.
And I'm not sure where she heard it, but I apparently at least part of the reason the cops don't go after people for firing off fireworks is because they have to actually see the people firing them off.
And then you have situations like she said happened where we lived in Illinois, apparently the one of the main people who sold off illegal fireworks was a cop.
I was can't help but wonder how the horses I visit on my bike rides handled NYE, since they're stuck outside.

When people moan "I don't understand why ______ ," and then don't make any effort to actually try and understand that thing. :brickwall:

My biggest frustration but also a huge occupational hazard. Because I've studied counseling and psychology and had to practice that art of understanding and empathy it drives me crazy how quickly people assume things must be so and they don't understand it. It can be understood...if you are willing to try.

This reminds me of an incident from a week or two ago that drove me nuts. I was over petting some of the horses I visit on my bike ride, and a guy with a kid or two went past in a side by side, and as I stepped back from the fence, he asked if I was feeding the horses. The question caught me off guard, so I at first all I did was go "huh?", and then before I could explain that I was just petting them he took off.
If you're going to ask a person a question, the decent thing to do would be the actually give them a chance to give you a real answer.

Especially if the question's asked in an accusatory tone. There's a ton of unwarranted chastisement going around.

Anxiety attacks when you can’t figure the source. I’ve been dealing with it off and on for a couple of days! Aaaaaargh!!!
