Things that frustrate us all

How certain are you that a woman in the most superficial profession in the world isn’t feeling a bit sore about losing her hair?

How do you think people would react to a woman acting offended by a joke? Jada Pinkett Smith knows this, that Hollywood sexist culture is such that acting like a fuddy duddy on National TV will blow back on her career. Just because she kept her cool doesn’t mean she hasn’t privately communicated to Will how sore a spot it is. Will Smith is what, in his 40s? And this is his first offense. You really think it was only male pride that made him that irrational, and not private knowledge of her emotional state?

Chris Rock has already declined to press charges. I hope whatever consequences Will Smith faces are proportional to his actions, which were inappropriate, but human.

When Ukrainians are being murdered, and republicans are trying to take away basic freedoms of anyone who doesn’t agree with them, I think we can go easy on the guy who disturbed a comedian’s cheek.

Thankfully that wannabe dictator was fired the other year and isn't residing at 1600 Pennslyvania Ave, looking at the US from an outside persepctive the so called Party of law and order and personal responsibility and keeping government out of peoples private lives seems to be lacing in personal responsibility and doesn't seem that bothered abut an attempted coup last year and sure seems to want to pkoe into peoples lives i.e who someone can marry, if someone can have an abortion etc..

Sure I understand some people have religious believes that may come into conflict with that, but perhaps I was under the mistaken impression that the USA had freedom of religion which of course means freedom to not believe in a deity or deties. In essence what some people are trying to is force their belief's onto others. Guess what if you think it's wrong to abort a baby then you don't have to, if you think same gender marriage is wrong guess what you don't have to marry someone of the same gender. What you are not free to do is impose those beliefs on to others but if politicans want to talk religion how about this one 'Thou shall not bear false witness' (now I know that might be a tad confusing for some politicans but I''ll translate it in to simpler english 'do not lie'. Then of course we have 'Thou shall not take the name of the lord in vain' which means if you take an oath using his name you are supposed to uphold that oath regardless of consequences to you or the party you represent. I can respect people for their religious beliefs even if I might disagree with them myslef what I dislike is people who only pay lip service to some of the core tenants of those beliefs

Not saying that things are much better on this side of the pond with the government seeming to lurch from one fiasco to the next.

I thought of something to I wanted to post in this thread earlier today, but now I can't remember what it was. So now I'm frustrated that I can't remember what was frustrating earlier today.

Ah, I remembered what I thought of this morning, the damn lights on my bike won't turn off.
It's a pedal assist bike with a front and a rear light that according to the instruction book are supposed to turn off, but the command in the book won't work.
I'm trying to them turn it off because I've had two different horseback riders tell me that their horses didn't like the front light, and I don't need them on since I ride during the day.
I can just turn the whole bike off when they go by, and then back on after they're past, but that can be a pain since I tend to forget to turn it back on before I take off.

If it's set up to be a road legal moped, albeit electric, it probably can't turn off without adding a switch and altering the wiring. Bikes with headlights haven't had off switches in decades :D. If you got a high beam control on the handlebar, technically you could probably add a cuttoff switch to it on the handle bar.

If those are public trails, how do those horses handle dual-sport bikes on the trails? They can't turn their head lights off, either.

It's not a moped, it's a e-bike.
And not sure about the other bikes, all I know is that one of the times I saw a couple of horseback riders I see a lot, one of the horses kind of hesitated as they stopped to talk, and the rider said she thought he didn't like the light. Then this weekend I saw some other riders and when I stopped for them, one of them said her horse got startled by the light. Neither of them were mad, I think they were just letting me know why the horses were hesitant to go past me at first.

People who honk their horn the moment the light turns green, especially when I'm in the left turn lane. I can see the oncoming traffic, you can't. I'm going to wait until I'm absolutely sure that the oncoming car is going to come to a complete stop and not try and blow through the light before proceeding through the left turn.

Word. My mom was in a similar situation. People are just impatient and in too much of a hurry. It's better to be safe than sorry.

People are impatient, Thursday i had a situation, there was some temporary traffic lights for roadworks and as i approached them they changed to amber then red, i was the third car in the queue and still slowly coming to a stop when the car in front of me decided to jump the first and try and clear the roadworks before the cars in the opposite direction started coming. So as i hadn't stopped fully i continued to slowly pull up behind the first car, starting to fill the gap by mr impatient.

Well we know what happened, they had misjudged how long it would take for traffic to start coming from the opposite direction and had to put it in reverse and suddenly trying to get back in the space that i have now taken. Obviously my fault as getting hand gestures and beeping of the horn from Mr Impatient. Fortunately i was able to reverse enough myself so he could get in at an angle and let the oncoming traffic come past.

We've got some temporary traffic lights set up on my route home. I was probably about the same distance from the lights as you, but a van and car from way further back in the queue decided to make run for it too. The van in the lead didn't beep at me, but did at the people trying to come through for their temerity to come through on a green light.

it's almost like they think temporary lights are optional

It would have been so much more amsuing for him to have to reverse all the way back to the end of the queue.

And these are probably the same people who get so busy with their phones when they're at the red light that they don't see it change and hold everybody else up.

I've been well into a queue at traffic lights say 20th and been ready to go when the lights turn green yet the lead car doesn't move off for 2 or 3 seconds after the lights change, i mean it's not like you don't get a couple of seconds to prepare to set off as the lights tell you they are going to change to green soon by diisplaying Red & Amber

I love those YouTube clips where some jackass uses the oncoming lane to overtake a tailback and then has to try wheedle his way back into the queue.:rommie:

Or they cut dangeroulsy in front of other drivers to avoid oncoming traffic. But some drivers believe by driving slower they are safer drivers, but driving too slow is a danger in itself as it can lead to dangerous overtakes. I've been stuck behind cars doing barely 30mph in a 60mph zone on a clear dry day in what many would class as near perfect driving conditions eventually someone will try a reckless overtake,

But what you see a lot of in those videos and dash cam footage is the driver who is “in the right” getting themselves “in the wrong” by not just letting the perceived slight go (sometimes at the cost of their own and others safety). When I was learning to drive the instructor told me that sometimes you have to “drive for the other guy too”.

I've seen a couple of other people refer to an amber traffic light, is that the same as a yellow light in the US?

Amber, yellow, same thing. (Well, technically it's an orangey-yellow.) A lot of Americans call it an amber light also.
