Someone needs to remind her about the heavy smoker who found the 'healthy' jogger dead on the ground.
Wouldn't you know it..."that relative" smoked for decades and only quit in the last 2 years or so. She always claims to have some disease or other, but I'm the unhealthy one she zeros in on.
I start to question how much they want me around if they cancel plans once.
@auntiehill : I just saw the perfect postcard for you. It translates: I'm not too plump - so much beauty simply requires a lot of space.
Don't go in that direction! You're falling prey to an old paranoia again.
Remember: these friends are the best ones you ever had. That means you can trust them. That they cancelled an appointment simply means that something happened that they had to deal with at once. Maybe they had a horrible headache or had eaten something that disagreed with them, or another friend or relative had suddenly fallen ill and they had to care for them, or they had a tax problem they had to attend to instantly in order to meet an important deadline, or they had overlooked that they already had made an appointment for that time and date with someone else, e.g. their dentist.
Being unable to keep an appointment doesn't mean the person is not interested. It only means that an incident or a problem has arisen that they had been unable to forsee when they made the appointment. It's nothing personal at all but merely an unfortunate coincidence.
When they cancel the appointment, it means they care about you and therefore notify you of the altered plans so that you don't worry if they don't turn up. It's a sign of their friendship, not, as you suspect, the opposite.![]()
Have you tried a lidocaine patch? I injured my shoulders a while ago and they are the only thing that helps me sleep. One brand is Salonpas but Target and Wal-Mart have store brands. The Target one is a little better for me, it's less sticky.Lower back injury from 14/15 years ago is back. My fat ass is in such bad shape and over the last few week, I did more heavy lifting and bending than I had in a long time. We moved our grill, trimmed the trees, shifted some large packs of car litter, I vacuumed and mopped the floors...and on Saturday night, my back was just killing me. It feels like a knife is stabbing me right above my tailbone. Could barely sleep at all last night from the pain. Worked yesterday and today but I have tomorrow off. Maybe I can sleep in tomorrow.

Good. I'm glad it helps.Picked up a store brand box of patches and had hubby put it on me this afternoon. It does indeed help! Just took a shower after watering the yard in this ungodly heat, so I'll put a fresh one on before bed. I'm still in pain but it's so much more manageable with these patches.
Wow. I hope that today is a better day.^a classical case of Murphy's law! My heartfelt commiserations.
I fell prey to Murphy yesterday: injured my ankle and am limping badly. Checked out 5 mins earlier than usual to make sure I catch the bus. On my way to the bus stop I noticed that I was still wearing my computer spectacles. Returned to office to exchange glasses. Almost back at bus stop I realized I had forgotten my mask. Limped back to my office again to fetch mask. Bus was 5 mins early, so I only just managed to catch it. Half a mile before my stop it broke down with a motor failure.
I'm curious what'll happen today.
