Things that frustrate us all

When you order some traditional outdoorsy archery supplies and end up on an NRA mailing list.

Not knowing when to overtake. Last week I was over taken on a country lane hill with a blind bow. I had a stop stop to let them get out of the way of an oncoming car.

Today, over taken in a car park by someone passing between me and the space I was pulling in to! It’s low speed but the sudden jolt hurt the littlest’s neck.

WTF?!

Auditors at work. Oh dear, I'm going through this again, like I don't think anyone minds when they're really looking for regulation violations or something, but everyone totally knows most of what they do is job justification, and they're just looking to create problems so they can say they've fixed something, you know? I feel like they just want me to jump through hoops for ordinary every day things that aren't risky at all, so frustrating! And like I just had to deal with this less than a year ago, just feels much too soon for me.

Those pesky auditors. We’ve got an external coming up. And I know exactly what they’ll say, but it’s ok, I already got the invoice paid for something that will put it right, it just needs actually actioning. And it will be, eventually.

Fruit flies. They seem really bad at the office this year. Whenever I try to eat my lunch, I get a bunch of them swarming around me. Rather annoying.

For us, the external ones turn up, sit in a meeting room for a few days and hardly bother us. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not.

As for my current bother, it's wasps. The critters have built a nest:(

Cities that have two streets with an identical name. And then the U.S. Post Office fails to set their sorting machines to use the different zip codes rather than the street name.

Just a disclaimer that I am not saying anything against Hispanic people.

To make matters worse, on the west side of town was an apartment complex where the residents were all Hispanic folks who did not like to pay their bills.

Yeah. If you're trying to come across as not racist, then perhaps you should refrain from making sweeping negative generalizations about a specific group of people.

When using the smart but cosy facilities of a respectable establishment, and spot 1 and spot 3 are in use. The middle urinal then being visited upon by a heft that cannot help but nudge you aside, and who then farts the loudest of the smelliest imaginable emissions,

I much prefer cubicles.

I think this hyper-sensitivity to every thing that is said needs to stop.

Yes, you've made your opinion on this clear a few times now.

Your anecdote didn't even need to mention ethnicity. You went out of your way to do so. The fact that you needed to add your disclaimer implies you knew it was problematic, and would be taken as such.

And while you're casting blame on the post office, perhaps save some for the municipality that thought it was an acceptable idea to give two different streets within the same town, the same name. Beyond just things like mail delivery, that must have caused a fair bit of confusion for emergency services.

When your concerns over deadlines and workload are dismissed. The amount of effort and expertise involved in delivering a piece of work undervalued. When your strengths unappreciated but your weaknesses highlighted constantly. When you genuinely can’t tell if the piling on of work is because you’re seen to be capable and can handle it, or because you’re seen as slacking and could do with pulling your socks up. When your line manager is winging it, and relies on you to manage your own priorities and cover their shortcomings but raindown the criticism when they are called out for their failings. When you know what you bring to the company, they know how difficult it would be to replace you because of the niche product, limited recruitment budget and small local talent pool, and day rate for third party consultants is very high, but they still treat you like the door is open.

And frustratingly, you’re not in a position to move on because of reasons even more frustrating. That would be frustrating. That would indeed be frustrating.

Edited. Will make adjustments from now on and omit a non-essential fact if it has the potential to offend. :)

I had no idea that was allowed. Pretty annoying.

I so hate it when my boss takes 2 weeks off without notifying his second in command ( = lil' old me). My mailbox and pidgeon hole almost burst this morning, the cops need an expertise asap (preferably yesterday), the government wants a report on the current draught (also preferably yesterday) and 2 universities asked for help with the analysis of several batches of samples. I can delegate a bit of that stuff but the bulk will be my responsibility. I don't mind working like a horse but in this searing heat it's hard to concentrate. Atm it's 30°C in my office and still rising (it faces south). I'll have a look at the vacation list after lunch break - with a little luck I can borrow an office in the eastern wing's basement for a few days.

Your work environment isn't temperature controlled? That sounds awful.
