Sometimes get RAF jets over us as well.
I used to live in Wiltshire on the flight path between RAF Lynham and Salisbury Plan so would often here and see RAF aircraft of all kinds in the air.
Living in the flight path of Dublin Airport isn't quiet the same.
Plane watching is great. Visited a friend that lived on the flight path for Manchester. The sound of planes would invade my sleep and get in to my dreams.
Grew up on the flight path for Manchester and Leeds, and RAF Finningly, and there was always something big and noisy in sky. Where I am now though, most planes are a few miles up and barely noticeable. But that just makes the other things more intrusive.

It's when you're out hiking and they fly past below your eye level when it's fun to watch
I'm used to aircraft noise as I work relatively close to the airport so we hear it all the time, but of course, those are passenger jets rather than the smaller types.
For me, it's typically the police helicopters. They tend to hover over a neighbourhood a few miles away from us every so often. (Sure, they're going the job they're paid for, but they can be a little loud).
Stressful dreams. Like having your car vandalised in a strange town when you need to be home, far away where someone is waiting, and the thugs could return at any moment. So you’re on the phone to the recovery service, on hold, worried about the signal, the battery, the time. And when you wake up, you still spend a good ten minutes trying to get back to the dream before the call drops out and have to call the recoverers again.
It might as well have actually happened for the amount of quality sleep you get.
Similar frustrating dreams are work ones, when you complete a task, such as picking through thousands of lines of code to solve a problem that’s been plaguing you, only to have do it all again for real.

Me too, I barely notice the jetliners. But once in a while there is one private/corporate plane that is so loud and intrusive you can't ignore it. It is called an Avanti and sounds like a giant flying weed wacker.
Being a waiter, this is a huge pet peeve of mine. People who go into a steakhouse, ask the server what their favorite thing to eat is, what I would consider good, then listen intently, nod, and say, "Okay, just give me some chicken tenders." Why not just order the chicken tenders in the first place? Why even act like you were going to order anything other than chicken tenders? Why even ask my opinion if your mind was already made up?
People in sportswear, kicking around a soccerball and SMOKING A CIGARETTE!!! Only my sense of "minding my own business" prevents from yelling "What do you think you're doing, stupid? If you want to poison yourself, why don't you go the whole hog, sit on a couch and eat junk food all day?"
Speaking of noise from the sky, I was walking in my quiet neighborhood to get some lunch when a loud helicopter came into view. It was flying in a circular pattern. I think it was a traffic reporting helicopter since it was circling above the freeway area. It wasn't that close, but it was nevertheless annoying loud. Even though I had earbuds in my ear, I couldn't clearly hear the music because of the damn noise from the copter.
And speaking of traffic, it gets my blood boiling when I'm behind a car that straddles two lanes while trying to make a turn. When there are pedestrians crossing the street, the car in front of me has to wait for them to cross, and I in turn have to wait to move forward, even though I am not in the turning lane and want to go straight ahead.
I don't know why those drivers don't just position their car fully into the far left/right turning lane. Instead, they hog parts of two lanes and block all cars behind them from moving forward.

From the overhead silhouette seen from a distance, I'm pretty sure that what I have seen on numerous occasions is a Cessna Skymaster and if that is the case these are some of the loudest conventional plane engines I have ever heard. Maybe something to do with the push-pull configuration? :
I'm shocked you expect other drivers to position their vehicles correctly, what madness is this? I thought the aim was to drive and position your car in such a manner as to annoy as many other road users as possible.
In my country, you get a ticket for that kind of behavior, hogging two lanes I mean.
