Things that frustrate us all

Does having mental health issues give an individual the right to treat other people badly though?

The question is does it really matter in the grand scheme of things?. Is a moment of inconvenience worst than a lifetime of mental illness? People get to move away from him and forget him once he is out of sight and out of mind but he still has the mental illness. If that is what he has then I would say he kind of has the worst deal out of the whole thing. Not that I don't understand getting angry. Of course people going to be pissed when they are insulted. Not only that they will get pissed even if they know he can't help it. I don't think the whole tolerance or turn the other cheek thing means you don't stop getting pissed at people even if you kind of know it's irrational. It's more about putting it perspective and trying not to overact. With this guy I guess It would be more of a bite your tongue type of deal and not make the situation worst. Of course he could also just be a regular jerk since nobody will ever know. At which case though the idea of it not mattering that much once you move away from still applies. Only time real assholes really matter is when they have power over you or they are somehow also a big part of your everyday life. Like family or co-workers etc. Random guy on the street I don't think would count.

Trying to kill flies when they are in your house. Why can't they just accept their fate and not be so difficult. Why do they always seem to know to land in the one place you can't reach or swat because you will break something. Also why do they want in your house so much to begin with. They have the Great Outdoors to go and do fly stuff but as soon as you open the front door some of them zoom right in and yet when you try to get them to fly out they can't ever find a exit even if it's like inches away.

Flies are bloody annoying, but they aren’t wasps. Wasps are the bastard spawn of refined evil.

Why couldn’t wasps be extinct instead of dodos. You could eat dodos.

Butters, exactly what prob do you have with wasps? Being a biologist, I usually get along very well with them (never ever got stung in all my life even though I catch them by hand). Maybe I could help if you'd "state the nature of the emergency". As a general rule, wasps are rather peaceful insects. Only they get scared very easily and then believe they have to defend themselves. If one knows how they think, it's usually easy to find a compromise that's ok for both human and insect.

When I was about four, one of them landed on my forearm. I was alerted to it by a tickling sensation and moved my arm to investigate. The thing responded with the most painful thing that had ever happen d to me, and I still bear to this day the scar of an earlier encounter with an electric iron.

I haven’t been stung since, but I am weary of them, the sound of their wings when trapped behind a blind, their silhouette against a closed curtain in the morning sun.

Were they to just, jog on, as bees do, I’d give them no thought, but they don’t. They hound me, run me from what sweet and precious fleeting sunshine we get on this damp grey soggy island. Barbecues, picnics, beer gardens, strawberry patches, outdoor plays. And if that wasn’t enough, they come in to my office, my workspace.

They are misery made manifest.

I see. Wasps usually go for high protein food in spring and summer and for sweets in fall. They need the protein to feed their larvae while in fall they are off duty and can enjoy the sweet side of life.
Hence, if you eat sweet stuff in the warm season and BBQ in fall, you'll automatically get molested less by wasps. Also, try to avoid intensive scents (shaving cream, perfume etc.) as those attract insects and insects are the main prey for wasps.
The second thing I'd recommend is not to panic (easier said than done, I know). Like all insects, wasps have a very acute sense of smell. If they smell stress hormones (adrenalin), they automatically switch to red alert.
The third component of the problem is that wasps are the insect version of Keas: their curiosity knows no limits at all and everything must be examined from all angles. That includes sunbathing humans. Unfortunately, there is nothing one can do against that behaviour. Try to ignore them - they'll soon get bored. Once they got to know you and realized that you have no play value nor are edible or a good place to nest, they'll leave you alone.

You can try to make yourself inattractive to wasps by using an insect repellent. If you'd like something natural try clove oil - you'll smell like a dentist but most insects will avoid you. Be careful, though, not to use clove oil on any tender skin (inside of ellbows etc) and particularly not in the face since it can burn a bit and some people get a rash. You can dilute it with water to make it less aggressive on the skin. Take good care to not get any oil in your eyes or you'll risk serious eye damage.

Last but efficient tip (particularly for the office) : feed them. No kidding. Put out some food or drink they like on the window sill, as far away from you as possible. It'll keep them in one place and they will stay there (i.e. outdoors) as long as they find something to eat. Only when they run out of food they'll start exploring again.

Speaking of Teradata, how about...

Microsoft, and their whole embrace & extend doctrine. I've spent so many years on SQL Server, that now that we're starting to get more into Teradata, I'm finding that half of the things I normally do in SQL are all Microsoft-specific. Trips me up all the time!
Teradata gets on my nerves too sometimes because it really doesn't like complex joins and sorting and would constantly give me errors especially when I'm connecting through Tableau. I found it's stable and it always worked for me, but Hadoop is like down half the time, whenever I run a query I'm hoping it goes through. I've never used Microsoft SQL Server, but I know so totally what you mean about things being Microsoft specific, lol. I've had problems like that with VBA sometimes and like "What do you mean my procedure isn't recognized?" lol.

When an event you were planning to go to gets moved a week earlier, and you don't find out until the day of the original date...

We get stink bugs. Super annoying. At least the cat has learned not to mess with them

When your main go-to lipstick for the office gets discontinued... and out of the hundreds of available choices at that store, you can't match that single one! :(

Another MD coming along to declare some new health proclamations. Dr. Gundry's book "The Plant Paradox" is making it's way around, claiming that a variety of certain natural foods aren't good for you, especially those high in lectin. And guess what? He is concurrently selling a line of supplements to do just precisely that ("Lectin Shield" that helps the body reject these proteins). Another snake oil salesman in the runaway diet & nutrition plan market.

This video helps dispel these fraudulent claims:

It really sickens me. Dr. Gundry is like the Mike Pence of nutrition. Doesn't really know what he's talking about, but pushes a narrative with a pretend "looking out for you" manner, all the while enacting a devious profiting plan under the covers.
