Things that frustrate us all

Monty Python fan group on Facebook rules include no advertising and no irrelevant posts but the group admins are always posting non-Python memes and advertising their own online shops. It’s very silly and needs to stop now.

There are a few roads near my house that are on hills, and they have signs that say HILL BLOCKS VIEW.

Well, fucking DUH!!!

It's like when you see a bag of what are obviously peanuts and there's a warning tag that says "May contain nuts".

Why can't we just get rid of anything that doesn't pass the DUH factor? "Common sense" really needs to make a comeback.
The worst part about those kind of things is that they're there because somebody actually complained about or did the stupid thing. I think my favorite dumb warning is the "Do Not Swallow" one on clothes hangers that shows a drawing of a person with their neck stretched out in the shape of clothes hanger. Who would do that?

I try to avoid drunk people as much as possible.
Same, but college was filled of various stories of idiotic acts of drunkenness' and dares.

The reason we have warning labels on things? People are not interested enough to stop and think? They are not reflective, they are encouraged by social reaction, and positive reinforcement by sheer number of people who can watch. When I was younger, it was a crowd. Now, it's views.

People watch people do stupid stuff all the time, and then bemoan the state of the world. Except, the views reinforces the behavior!

Yeah, I guess you're right. I usually try to avoid videos like that, but have been guilty of watching a few that have gone viral enough to make it onto news sites and places like that.

Customer made on online appointment this morning for a brake job on a 2019 BMW i8, which is their all electric sports car.
We turned him down flat.
We're not doing brakes on a car that runs $60-90,000.
If you can afford to buy one, take it to the dealership and have the brakes done there.
Don't be a cheap SOB.

Why don't these people ever just get laughed out of court? The judge needs to have more power to do exactly that.

I'll never understand some aspects of how the law works. This isn't one of them, but there are some situations where it feels like the law's attempt to make sure people who have committed a crime are treated fairly, ends up hurting the victims of the crime. Sometimes it feels like suspects and accused have more rights than victims.

My wife and I were heading to a sub place a few hours ago. We were making the right turn with a green arrow, when this woman nearly hit us by running her red light to turn (her perspective) left. And she took the next red light when we got to it, too... almost hit another person, as well. At that point, I got her license plate and I tried calling the police non-emergency number, because this was the kind of recklessness that will get people killed, usually someone other than the driver.

The operative word in my last sentence... is tried.

I was on hold waiting with a recording of 'someone will get to you in a moment'. So I waited... and waited... and waited. After 20 minutes, I just hung up because we had already gotten to our destination almost 10 minutes prior to hanging up. And by the way, this was after I had already tried 311 (who told me I had to call the police non-emergency line despite the fact these kind of things do fall under things you report to 311 about, so yet another person who just wants to pass the buck) and the local area police number, which came up as an invalid number, despite it showing up on the internet search. So not only was she long gone from the area, but who knows what else could have happened.

It's frustrating that you try to be a good citizen and help prevent maniacs from possibly hurting others, but it feels utterly useless to even try when things like this happen.

hybrid - and they sold new ones for 126,000 € upwards here (so they should be more expensive on your side of the pond)

Dishonest lettings agents. After waiting all week and giving a holding deposit and references the letting agent called to say I was unsuccessful. The property was still on their website today at a reduced rent even after taking my holding deposit last week so they seem like a bunch of cowboys. Probably take as many holding deposits as they can and then look for a reason not to return them to unsuccessful applicants. Back to the drawing board.

So many men on the internet who played with Transformers when they were 10 years old are losing their minds that a new animated Transformers movie is not geared toward 50 year olds.

That sucks. I'm sorry.

There's something perversely hilarious about grognards complaining that Peter Cullen isn't the voice of Orion Pax / young Optimus Prime.

Cullen is 82 years old, for God's sake.

I never played with Transformers when I was a kid. Didn't even watch the cartoon. My only exposure to it were the Bay films.

I remember I owned the first (2007) one on HD-DVD and BluRay. Shit, I'm old. ::lol:

Thanks, I'll get my deposit back but it feels like a week wasted. When I queried why the property was still on the website at a reduced rent they hesitated and said the landlord must have done it without them knowing. As if the landlord has access to their website. Complete lies and I hate being taken for a fool but as is always the case when I have a setback I'll put it down to happening for a good reason and something better will come along.
