Things that frustrate us all

I thought I had a sure-fire remedy for pushy salespeople who won't shut the fuck up about "Is there anything I can help you FIND?"

That remedy was, simply pull out a loaded revolver and say "If you ask me that one more fucking time, I will kill you."

Unfortunately, it is still a misdemeanor in many states to shoot a pushy sales clerk. :sigh:

srsly, what the fuck is their problem? If I wanted help finding something, I'd fucking ASK! Until that time, get out of my face! Comprende?
That part was a joke.
Joking or not, if you did that, you'd be locked up for making terroristic threats.

Having worked retail myself for a long time, I can back up everything fireproof said about the reasons why retail employees engage you whether you want them to or not. While those interactions where you're able to help someone who actually needs it can be wonderful, if you aren't someone with an outgoing personality, the forced interaction can be emotionally taxing.

Unfortunately, I've been on both sides of this. One of the things about sales people is that they are all trained to be hyperware of theft. And the biggest deterrent of theft is helping out and frequent check ins. And, yes, I've pissed off customers for that. The other side is that managers get pissy at staff for standing around, and this is one of the slower times of year for retail, so staff are faced with either piss off the customer or piss off the manager. It's a no win situation.

Yeah, I worked at Best Buy when I was in college (21 years ago, ugh) and one of the first things they taught us in orientation was that every customer should be touched by no fewer than three employees; it was their primary loss prevention strategy.

Yeah. And we couldn't physically pursue or detain anyone per policy, so if we were super slow, customers got overly helped. I felt bad for one staff member who the district manager thought was ignoring a customer but the worker had already asked that customer three times.

No good solutions.

At Wal-Mart one of the rules was that if you got within a certain distance of a customer, you were supposed to ask them if they needed help. I usually only asked if they actually looked like they needed help, both because of my social anxiety, and because I know how annoying it can be when the associates keep bugging you.

Since I went vegan, I've only been able to find one brand of pizza that isn't made with gluten-free crust and the only place that carries it is Target, which only has two varieties. I just don't really like the stuff they use to make gluten-free crusts, and it's been driving me crazy that I can't find more of them with regular wheat crusts.

Whole Foods had the same policy of being within a certain distance from a customer, you ask if they need anything.

Regarding potholes in the roads, it's not just winter for everywhere else that causes it. We don't get winter in Miami, and the roads are littered with potholes EVERYWHERE.

What's even more frustrating? The tolls and road taxes are very high and very frequent. Where are all the road dollars going, especially when there are so many projects on at the same time? Just pick a few, complete, move on to the next few. That would easily help alleviate the HORRENDOUS traffic situations daily.

Having to endure a long (2 hour) commute through terrible weather using public trains is normal (for me) and not frustrating. What's frustrating is hearing excuses from the people who live like 5 miles from work and can't seem to get here on time.
No one seems to be able to think ahead anymore, even for such mundane things as leaving 5-10 minutes early when the weather is bad (in Boston, mind you) and you know you have to be at work by a certain time. :brickwall:

Conversely are the same pushy salespeople who suddenly disappear when you actually need assistance.

Eww, requiring you "touch" the customer!
:barf:

For the last month the city has been trying to close one of the parking lots at one of the parks we go to to fix it up, but every we get close to the day the sign says it's got start, it ends up raining. It first said it was supposed to start the first week of last month, and each time it rained they pushed it back a week, and we're now up to next week. There's no more rain in the forecast after today, so hopefully they'll finally be able to do it.

Would you be opposed to getting one of the pre-made wheat crusts with no toppings, and adding your own vegan toppings to it and cook in the oven?

No, I'm just lazy and don't feel like going through all of that.

That's my attitude towards cooking in general. It's why my kitchen has no oven. :D

Well, that, and the fact that there are like a dozen restaurants within a five mile radius of my house. Why the hell WOULD I want to bother with cooking? ;)

My mom and I both don't like to cook, so we pretty much live on frozen meals.

This explains the frozen grilled cheese sandwiches then... I never even knew those existed.

Personally, the types of food that I like to eat are very expensive if I'm getting them at restaurants all the time, so I prefer to prepare them myself at home.

I keep getting cramp in the arches of my feet when I'm sleeping, it's fucking torture
I guess you could say that was frustrating

That's usually a sign of dehydration, low potassium and / or low magnesium. Drink a large glass of water before you go to bed.
Unfortunately, drinking a large glass of water before going to bed would mean that I'd be absolutely bursting by the time I woke up.
It's bad enough already, and I don't get up during the night because I have a rather large Galgo Espanol sleeping at my feet.
If I get up, she might think it's time for her to go out, and I'm not going back to the days of 4am walkies.
