I have noticed this more and more in the last few months, and it really gets on my nerves. When you press pause on a show on any streaming service... HBO Max, Paramount Plus, Hulu, etc... there is an ad on the screen superimposed over the paused image. Normally, it's paused because I have to go to the bathroom or clean the dishes because my wife and I will watch stuff while we eat. But there are times when I want to take a closer look at a paused image for a detail... only to find a damned ad get in the way! And I am NOT going to pay more for ad free... they get enough money already.
Well, sure, I suppose, but the outside temp isn't such a big deal to actual motor vehicle operation. It's just a nice thing to have at your disposal, & I don't know about everyone else's vehicle, but my Jeep makes it pretty easy to switch from standard to metric speed at the touch of a single, prominently placed button, (That I actually hit accidentally quite often lol) My point is, there isn't any way to have celsius temp on the dash (That I've noticed anyway) & it would occasionally be nice to know that measure
The only one I've run into that with his Hulu, but Paramount+ is even worse. On there, when I pause it, it actually shrinks the whole show down to a tiny corner of the screen, while the rest is an add. You can click on the show to make it go full screen again, but it's still annoying.
Oh, my mistake, I thought you meant they could both be switched independently, but you wanted both to switch when you switched one. I didn't realize that the temperature couldn't be switched at all. If they sell those vehicles into countries other than the USA, I would have thought it'd be switchable, but maybe that's something that has to be set/changed at the factory or dealership only? In mine, the Imperial speeds are printed in smaller numbers underneath the metric ones on an "inner ring" of the speedometer, so I can technically see both at once. And it doesn't actually show the temperature anywhere!
On mine, the temp change is through the infotainment system (though mine isn't a jeep). I'm not sure about the Miles vs Kilometer. For a jeep, some sites seem to indicate it's in the settings (on a touch screen menu if you have it). Another says one of the rocker switches on one of the stalks from the steering wheel may do it - but thas seems to vary on which year (and relates to the Jeep Renegade. Others may vary)
We take the dogs on their morning walks before the sun comes up this time of year, and this morning it was still dark out, and some guy went flying past us on a bike without a light, and didn't give us any kind of warning. We run into that all the time, and it just amazes me how many people fly past us like that. There are several times where one of us has practically stepped out in front of them, with a dog, and they still never said a word. When I go past people, especially people with animals, I always make a point of giving them some kind of warning and slowing down as I go by. And I couldn't imagine riding in the dark like that with no light. Where we were there was a fair amount of ambient light, but it would have been almost pitch black if you got away from the streets and neighborhoods.
People like that are supposed to delete themselves from the gene pool at pre-reproductive age, but I guess "survival of the fittest" is more a guideline than a hard and fast rule.
^ This also applies to whoever thought of those stupid ASPCA ads, the ones with the overwrought heartsick music in the background and the extremely sad-eyed (and obviously cute) animals. The creators of those ads should suffer some kind of penalty, such as death. Reminds me of the old National Lampoon ad: "Buy this magazine, or we shoot the dog!"
Nothing so severe. Maybe the old Brit boarding school standby known as "six of the best". Edit: Autocorrect, turning my use of "its" (as in, the squirrel ate its food) into "it's" (as in, it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas). It still proves that I'm smarter than my phone's AI, but it's frickin' annoying.
My strong suspicious is that the thermometer is considered a "luxury" as in not standard, while changing from miles to kilometers is more closer to a standard feature. Then again, I think that cars should have a built in kill switch to the lights when you shut the car off and that still isn't a thing in some models!
I once had a cheaper car from the late 80s that did this. But none of the other cars I've ever owned have had this 'feature.' It seems like a no-brainer... you turn off the car, and everything turns off. Not just the engine. Kor
It's another way to make sure accidents like that happen with lights... assures you end up having to buy a new battery sooner than necessary or go to the shop or tow truck.
They are deliberately wanting your lights to be on after powering down your car. There are so many involuntary things they add to cars now. It's my car, I make the calls jerkwads Speaking of which. My Jeep is a 2018, with only 13K miles. The tires are barely even noticeably used. Last summer I ran over something sharp, & sprung a leak. I took it in, had it plugged, but the plug isn't holding well enough. I noticed it was losing air over lengths of time. Had it done again, but it's still not holding right. No one can properly seal the damn thing. So I need a new tire, right? Easy. Except, every last tire shop jerk keeps trying to tell me they can't sell just one tire, because they aren't evenly worn. Have to by a whole set of 4. That is some horseshit, & I outright refuse. I'll by one tire myself & just take the damn rim somewhere to have it mounted & balanced, & put it on myself before I cough up 4X the $$ I ought to have to, just because they think that's some grift they are entitled to Things were better when cars were simpler. I am more certain of it now than ever before
Yay! As part of a class action suit against a corporation who've carelessly allowed my personal information to be stolen while in their possession, I am eligible to claim at least $100 and other things. All I have to do to claim is go online and enter all my information on a strange system.
I keep getting SMS messages about missed deliveries and a link to click to arrange a new delivery date. I’ve not ordered anything online in well over a year so it’s obviously spam. It started after I registered my CV online with my mobile number so I’m going to get two new numbers in the new year. One for personal and one to put on my CV. I don’t get the Open Register and how I have to opt out rather than opt in. It’s designed to sell to marketing companies which can only lead to spam.
Speaking of spam, today I have already gotten 2 Scam Likely calls within the space of 10 minutes. This after not getting a single one for a week. I guess they need to hit their quota. (My wife and I disagree on the effectiveness of this, but there is a feature on phones that blocks numbers. She says it helps, but I tell her it's useless because you'll still get the same call from the same place, only from a different number. You block that one too, and the cycle still continues. I'm not a software expert by any means, but doesn't adding numbers to a block list on your phone take up data? You eventually use up a lot of memory on just blocking scammers instead of something more useful, like pictures. I find that simply not answering the phone is more effective because it baaically appears to them that my number is dead. I'll still get calls, but far less frequently.) Anyway, Scam Likely calls are annoying... though there have been a couple of occasions when I feel like screwing with them and say ridiculous things.
