Things that frustrate us all

My 14-year-old Ford Focus needs new tires and a front brake job. What I really need is a new car, but realistically that just isn't happening now -- not unless I win a lottery jackpot or find myself a rich girlfriend.

(Hey, I'm not too proud to be a gigolo -- just too old!)

Garage door spring broke this morning but didn't identify what the sound was until I was getting the car ready for my wife as she was getting ready to leave for 3rd shift. Fortunately, I discovered before the time she needed to leave and other car was in the driveway.

While I normally take care of things for the property owner, this is going to have to be someone else. I can't even get the garage door to budge (yes, I did dis-engage the garage door opener).

Repair onsite. Garage door uses odd single spring configuration that he doesn't have. Will need to convert to double spring and doesn't have time today. Rescheduled for tomorrow. Meanwhile, I need to clear at least 3' from the door on the inside- only have space in garage for one car due to all the stuff in the garage. At least it is in tubs or on wheels.

A Christmas present I ordered was supposed to arrive yesterday. It didn't, so I checked the tracking. Apparently, Canada Post, in their infinite wisdom, decided that my package, which originated in Quebec, and is to be delivered to me in Ontario, should be routed via... Alberta.

I don't think it's getting here by Christmas.

That reminds me of the time I flew to Calgary for the Stampede.

I live in Omaha, NE; I'm on my way to Calgary; so I have a layover in...HOUSTON?!?

Now don't get me wrong, I have absolutely nothing against Houston, it's very nice, I just had no idea why I had to connect out of a city which was not anywhere even close to where I was flying to.

Worst thing about the whole thing was, my iPad had run out of battery power, so it was like a four hour flight with nothing to do. :(

Haha, I've never understood why this kind of thing happens.

That one strand of lights on the tree that conks out two days before Christmas...

I just put up another string over and around it and called it a day.

You will not defeat me, evil light strands !
what annoys me more are the cable gremlins that turn up each year, having put the lights away in a tidy manner every year they always seem to be knotted and ravelled up when it's time to put them out again

I'm sure someone comes along and purposely ties knots in them

I was having a bad day already, massive headache, late Christmas package. There was a scare that the oven I just repaired last month was broken again but luckily it seems to be working now.
I just wanted a few minutes of quiet with no demands on me...it didn't happen.

I live on the border of an area where Mennonite and Amish people live. A bunch more come for the holidays and they're all riding 3 wheel bikes and golf carts everywhere. These 2 twelve year olds are driving a gas-powered golf cart in the neighborhood and run into an oak tree at the edge of my property and mess up some of the Christmas decorations in the yard. They were ok. On top of taking out half of a medium sized oak tree and littering my yard with debris, I had to cut up some limbs that went through their golf cart so they could be on their merry.
I just felt like crying.

What goes "Clipity clop, bang, clipity clop, bang?"

An Amish drive-by shooting!

The Amish and Mennonites are many things, but "nutcakes" is not one of them.

I genuinely admire them for being so simple and devout. I wish I had that kind of courage.

I've gotten a huge amount of spam calls lately, a few a day. I hadn't been getting them for a while except for the occasional DNC fundraising call. I don't pick them up but since they don't leave a message they're either fundraising or a scam. I block them, they just use a different number. WTF?!

I can tolerate the occasional ACLU fundraising call cause at least they're irritating me for a good cause, but this has gotten ridiculous.
