Yeah, then all repairs and never-ending maintenance are YOUR responsibility, not the landlords, and you'll be lucky if you have money left over to eat.Had very frustrating experience with landlord this week.
He said he saw a water leakage under my apartment in the basement that was increasing water bills. Now, I only ever go there if I need to reset the circuit breaker which is rare, and there was no leak in my apartment, so I had no idea it was there.
He comes into my unit to look for other leaks and complains about cleanliness. Now, my apartment is not that dirty. There is a lot of clutter, but any dirt and grime is cleaned and absolutely no food crumbs are left out. And if you saw the living spaces of every single person I’ve ever lived with including roommates and parents, you’d say my apartment was on the neat side. My dad’s house has decades of clutter and even a smashed up bathroom sink. By all my experience with any other humans, my apartment is relatively clean. But to HIS standards it's apparently a pigsty. So he goes off on me about not maintaining my apartment and “wasting his money”. I basically have a week to make it look like I have a maid.
And even what he says wouldn’t be too unreasonable, except he’s a person who can’t discuss any issue of any magnitude without adopting a tone that’s condescending and completely unempathetic.
I think I just need to buy a house and not have to deal with this shit.
That being said, yeah, I'm glad I have a mortgage and don't have to worry about rents that keep going up and up and up.....
Money is tight either way but home ownership is the preferred option.
