Things nuTREK must avoid!!!

The following STAR TREK items must be avoided, IMO. They are considered DORKY by normal people, IMO, and TREK needs to avoid them at all cost. Mention them..but not really do anything with them..

KLINGONS--the very name is a red alert for DORK TREK. If you even use the word in real like like, "I think KLINGONS are cool and tough asses" with normal people they will instantly label you a dork. DONT DO IT JJ.

BORG--Because they have been so ruined and turned into vanilla cupcakes by the folks at Voyager, everyone else in the world equates the use of the word to DORKS...DONT DO IT JJ

Don't go around saying things like "Star Trek's utopia is a special future where everyone is great, everyone gets along, there is no strife or drama" that kind of peace stuff would have gone over in the 60s. But having sat in the theatre with normal people, the last thing we need is for Star Trek to become oh so peachy where even men where skirts and no one cusses and God has been totally eliminated from Earth (but other worlds are okay to have their religions/theories Just not earth)

And dont be afraid to show men with BALLS kicking ass. The more peaceful and 'PC' trek got, the more it became unrelatable to real people, IMO. This movie is good because it let KIRK be KIRK and it let the action carry the movie..not mumbo jumbo speeches by bald-captains who wouldn't know the word HERO if it bit them in the ass

Klingons: So, he should actively avoid even mentioning one of the most well-known races in the franchise and possibly drawing in some more old fans? That'd be Genius. While we're at it, why don't we remove Andorians? And Romulans? And for good measure, let's not have any Vulcans either.

Borg: And because you don't like their direction in Voyager, no other creative team should EVER use them?

The skant was a bad idea, I'll grant you that. But humans aren't perfect, and I never saw that they were in TNG or DS9. We still have our faults, our passions, and our vices. We have a refined sensibility and an advanced culture, but humans are still human in Star Trek. And religion isn't gone, it's just accepted that people believe certain ways and people of the 23/4 centuries don't feel a need to shove it down people's throats like they do today. And I personally think that it seems like religion doesn't f**k up alien society like it does human society today.

As far as the men comment, you do realize a "hero" is a wider term than the guy with the sword who slays the dragon, right? I think that Picard more than fulfilled his role as one, and that Sisko was great to that end. If you personally don't like Picard or Sisko? I don't agree but hey, everyone has their tastes. But to say we "need" men "with balls kicking ass"...phrased like that, you make it sound like you just want a mindless Rambo hero, not that I'm accusing Kirk of that.

I can agree on that, DS9 has given me headaches with the over-use of the word honor, and in general Klingons seem very one-dimensional.

Freaking Khan. I already see people crying out for him to return. that completely DEFEATS the purpose of the reboot. NEW STORIES. Lets go with that.

How about we compromise and have Scotty, wearing a tartan kilt, kill a borgified Klingon by crushing it with a thrown log.

Maybe the Klingons in the new timeline will return to the roots of the TOS culture or that which was planned for Phase II. Add me to the list of those sick of Klingons.

Pay no attention to the O.P. He was drinking heavily when he posted!

I wouldn't mind seeing the Klingons again -- just return them to their roots, mean, rotty, nasty Mongols-Vikings-Visigoths!

However, in keeping with the intent of this post, no Khan! Don't revisit that character, he was done well enough.

Red Ranger

I don't get the obsession with Khan. I mean, it was a good movie but hardly The Godfather! nuTrek should aim to introduce new concepts and characters (please don't get rid of Klingons though, they're awesome) because that is the core of everything Trek.

How'bout you just actually make 'em bad-asses, like you make a rule that says no guy smaller than The Undertaker or The Big Show plays a Klingon male?

The problem didn't start with Voyager. The problem started with BoBW. "Sleep". Gay.

Actually, the Klingons exist because Gene Coon knew it wouldn't have gone over in the 60s. Cold War, remember?

So you prefer the current popular version, where everybody is an emo little snot? How'bout, for once, we try for normalcy, where the characters are people we might actually meet in real life?

As implied above, there are plenty of ways to be a hero. What you actually want is for soldiers to be SOLDIERS and for Starfleet to drop this "not a military" fiction. That I wholeheartedly agree with. Good luck getting most people here to.
