Things I've learned from watching TV and films...

The very violent thing that kills a secondary character doesn't kill the hero to whom it happens at a crucial moment later in the timeline.

People with multiple superpowers are rather forgetful about ones they possess, that could actually expedite favorable resolutions, & as a result, use another superpower that is not as efficient at dealing with the situation

When the old, grizzled hero meets up with a hot young prodigy, the grizzled hero always refers to the h.y.p. as someone who's talents he's never, *ever* seen before. The h.y.p. usually pick up on things much faster than normal, they complete dizzyingly complex problems with speed and accuracy and they are usually just the person the team is looking for. Even if they're are way to young to be out at night without breaking curfew.

As long as he gets his guy(or kills him) a cop can mow down civilians, destroy property and catch just about anything on fire without repercussions.

Law & Order tends to avert that one; in the legal part, evidence and confessions can get thrown out because of illegal searches or mistreatment of suspects in the police part.

If someone drops a cup or plate, said object will fall in slow motion and shatter neatly against the floor, even if it falls against thick carpet.

People who duck down and hide in the backseat of a car are completely invisible to anyone on the outside or in the front seat of the car.

Whenever someone picks up a book, or a newspaper, something pertinent to the plot falls out of it.

If you are in the bathroom of an airplane, your plane will all of a sudden find turbulence. The fasten seatbelt sign will come on and the flight attendant will use the over head to tell everyone to return to their seats. However you will have to finish what you went to the bathroom for and this flight attendant will knock on your door till you open it, to make sure everything is okay. After you pass him/her, she will give you the look of distrust but then just go about her/his business.

It's easier to train oil workers to be astronauts than it is to train astronauts to blow up an asteroid.

Oh, yeah, sure, like the stuff on L&O ever happens in real life! ;)

Fat guys always have funny things to say, & usually have a skinny friend who isn't quite as funny as them

When someone randomly breaks into song and dance, everyone around them knows all of the backup words and the dance moves.

And major, high-profile criminal cases go to trial within days of the suspects being arrested . . . .
