The oooh-ahhhing over the holodeck in season one struck me as very weird, when rewatching it. The only reason they inserted that dialogue is as exposition to us in the audience, explaining how the tech works.
Holodecks should have been very familiar to the crew by the 2360s. Janeway and Kim talk about having them as kids, for gods sake.
