Things I Learned from TrekBBS

What have you learned via this bbs? Trek things, people things, metaphysical things, whatever.

I learned recently mainly from (Therin of Andor) that "canon" in Star Trek (the live-action, screened stuff) means "unable to be contradicted by licensed tie-ins"; but that writers of canonical shows and movies MAY draw from such tie-ins including TAS. And MAY contradict previous canon, if it makes for a good script. A pretty unrestrictive (we might even say loose) canon. Fascinating, Captain.

I also learned that some people equate big box office with a film's being "good." (Not that it WASN'T. I'm just saying I noticed this.)

I learned what many TOS titles allude to, thanks to C. Bennett.

Okay, your turn. What have you learned from TrekBBS?

That Jadzia Dax is a rubbish character. A general opinion with which I still respectfully disagree.

I've learned that some people will take offense no matter how many smilies or "IMHO"'s you drop in your post.

I've learned that a vocal minority claims to speak for the majority.

I've learned that some people can't tell the difference between fact and opinion, IMHO.

I've learned that, by and large, the Trek Lit Forum tends to be the best behaved on the BBS.

I've learned that sombreros are making it into the mainstream so far as head gear goes.

I've learned many fun and interesting things to do with photoshop.

I've learned that there are a many good and thoughtful persons in here that sometimes get drowned out by the general irrational hubbub.

While I didn't really learn this from the BBS per se, from the BBSers I've met, I've learned that there are no mean Trekkie drunks. They mostly just get silly.
