They are not "new" nor are they "kids"...

When I saw the thread, I was ready to come in here and bash them. Then I followed the link to their video in the OP, and I must say, I really like that song.

I think they got the right stuff.

^If that is in response to my post, let me assure you it was not sarcasm. The trauma of being a 12-14-year-old with taste during the first coming of the New Kids was very real and very profound. I feel for today's 12-14 year-olds with taste and wish the godspeed in surviving this new onslaught.

Ah, okay sorry, I apparently misread your post.

New Kids on the Block were popular when I was about seven or eight years old, and I thought that they were the coolest of the cool. I had no idea they were back.

Ah, the olden days....

I'll tell you this, my just-turned-30 wife is seriously planning a trip to San Antonio in the fall to see them in concert along with several of her close girlfriends. They were all die hard fans in their jr. high and high school years (has it been that long) and are recapturing the glory days or something. They were a product of their time, and icons of the era in their own right, can't deny them that, and beyond that, not much more to say. I am excited that my wife is excited in the same way she is for me when I gush over going to a Trek convention or the Trek Vegas Hilton. Everyone is a nerd about something -- Trek, sci-fi, sports, even aging pop music heartthrobs.

If that was the worst thing you had to deal with in your teens, and it still traumatizes you this much as an adult, you've lived a pretty good, albeit sheltered, life.

To quote my 7th favorite Boston-based band, keep "Hangin' Tough!"

Thankfully, as of today, I'm a supervisor and can now change the station if I wish. I'm wondering if I can completely lock out Channel 20...

If you've got it, flaunt it! Change the station to some electronica the first week, followed by a station that plays '90's alternative (grunge, trip-hop) the next, followed by classical the week after that, and then, maybe some progressive rock the week after that. As Commander Shelby once said, 'Random settings, keep them changing.' Make damm fracking sure its anything but NKOTB and their clones.

I'll take hyperbole for 1000, Alex. :p

Though yes, I did have a trauma-free childhood for the most part. Other than the whole "growing up in the '80's" thing. Thanks Mother & Dad! :bolian:

Don't trash the 80s, you loved it and you know it. $10 says you had a Hypercolor shirt.

I don't really feel I can be held responsible for that. I mean, the only other frame of reference I had was the 70's. :wtf:

And Hypercolor shirts were pretty cool. Not as cool as Freezie Freakies, but cool nonetheless.

Because those bands' music has matured along with them as time has gone on...whereas NKOTB is a group of five 40 year old men desperately trying to capture what they had 20 years ago when they were teenagers. In other words, they need to act their age.
You sound bitter and jealous to be honest. Who cares how old they act, they still can get babes and chicks and hookers for free at their age, have made quite a decent amount of cash and their shows all over the country are getting sold out. Most age 35-plus men would trade places with them immediately, some 20 year old nerds even. Don't be so bitter.

My grandma washed my hypercolor shirt in warm water, and that was end of it :(
