'These Haunted Seas' Question

I've just started to get into the Deep Space Nince re-launch series, currently reading 'Twist of Faith'. I see that the 4 Mission Gamma books are next on the list to read, and that 'These Haunted Seas' is an omnibus of the first two novels; 'Twilight' and 'This Gray Spirit'.

I have looked all over the internet but have not found any reference to the final two books 'Cathedral' and 'Lesser Evil' being re-published like the first two. Does anyone know if there will likely be an omnibus edition of these two books??

So far nobody knows, perhaps not even Pocket Books itself. As it was stated several times, wether or not there are going to be more reprint-omnibusses depends on the sales of Twist of Faith and These Haunted Seas. So I guess it's gonna be several months before we here anything about a third reprint.

It seems silly to just re-publish half of a 4-part story. I've been looking online for where to purchase the final 2 books, and they seem to be a rare commedity in the UK - Amazon have Book 4, USED for £20!!!:(

^ The problem is, the first two books were very very long. As it is, These Haunted Seas is incredibly thick. It wouldn't have been possible to bind the thing if it included the other two....

It looks like I'll have a long wait then. I'm about half way through 'Twist of Faith', and will then move on to buying 'These Haunted Seas'. However I am worried about what I'll do about the final 2 books, as I cant find them commercially available in the UK. Anyone know of anywhere?

Try ebay or some online book dealers if you don't have a used bookstore in your area. I have a couple local used bookstores in my area here in Virginia, and they usually have a handful of copies of the Mission Gamma books...

My wife just picked up a used copy for me of book 3, which I just finished and placed on the shelf. She found it on amazon.com for about $15 bucks, which was a lot, but I had to have it after finishing "These Haunted Seas!" I have also seen copies of book 2 at a local bargain book store (the ones selling the random mishmash of new books and publisher seconds). Sadly, I think the simple answer is that you need to either stumble across a copy at a used book store, or bite the bullet and pay the unreasonable amount being asked for online. Even though I bought book 3 (and will buy book 4), I would still like to see the second two books collected in an omnibus edition.

They're still available on Ebook aren't they? Might be your best bet, not ideal but they're fairly short books and the ones after that are more widely available.

The other alternative is to try Forbidden Planet or even Waterstones (in the UK) as there's often older copies of Trek books floating around there for quite a while. Especially Forbidden Planet.

I find that in my area of the UK, it is very rare for Star Trek books to a) appear and b) stay on the shelf very long when they do. I had to buy These Haunted Seas, a brand new book, from Amazon, whereas i can walk into my local Borders and find some of the A Time To... series, which is out of print!!!! But back on topic, we really need more DS9-R compilations.

It's highly unlikely they'd be ignored. But Pocket's accountants have to see if "These Haunted Seas" sells well enough first.
True, but they wouldn't have done These Haunted Seas if Twist of Faith did badly. I expect the third compilation to come out early 2010 if not in one of the TPB slots next year. It could come out in February, May, July, or September as a latecomer to the line-up or an instead-of if something gets bumped.

The real question, though, is what it will contain. Will it have just the second two Mission Gamma books, or will it carry Mission Gamma 3 through Unity? Leaving Worlds of DS9 for a fourth? and Warpath, Fearful Symmetry, The Soul Key and The Never Ending Sacrifice for a fifth at some point in the future?

Mind you, I only bought "Twist of Faith" because it contained a new foreword. "These Haunted Seas" has no new material. Keep in mind that "Unity" has already been reprinted - as a MMPB from the original hardcover.

(I did buy THS - because Thriss was on the cover - but I'm weird that way, and I don't expect Pocket to extrapolate sales figures based on my Andorian bias.)

I think it's been mentioned before that after the second two Mission Gammas there would still be more than enough room for Rising Son and Unity. But there's also a chance The Left Hand of Destiny or Lives of Dax could be in there instead. Or even A Stitch In Time.

Don't think it's fair to assume it sold as well as the first one though. 5 books in one is an easier sell than 2 in 1, plus it's a jump on point, and many people that bought it and enjoyed it might have gone on to pick up the separate Mission Gamma books once they were 'caught up'.
There's a lot of factors at play.

Also possible they'll be saving it for 2011 when they're done re-printing the entire eBook line (if they keep at the current pace).

I guess a potential third collection would contain the remaining Mission Gamma books and Rising Son, since Rising Son covers the same timeframe as the MG series.

To include Unity would make sense since it concludes part of the ongoing stories of the previous books, but like Therin said it already got a reprint.

Except that if you don't get the third reprint in '09, the earliest it would come is '10 by which time it is likely that the printing would have dried up

I spent a whole night searching for a new, fairly priced copy of either of the last two books in the Mission Gamma series. I was looking at prices of £50 new, and £20 for a tatty ex-libary copy. I eventually gave up. But then yesterday I stopped off in a small town in the Derbyshire area, and popped into a small bookstore. To my amazement, stuffed at the back of the sci-fi books was a BRAND NEW copy of Mission Gamma Book 4, and the price.....
99p!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now I just need some luck in finding Book 3.

I am so glad I have all of the DS9R novels in pretty much pristine condition still from the first time they were posted.

Now, what I would like to see (and let me know if it's already been done) is a TPB of 'Divided We Fall' as I only ever managed to get the first issue and I think that's been mislaid.
