These are just gorgeous...Enterprise beauty shots

Don't like it myself and these shots do little to change that opinion. Its just ugly.

Hence the "U.S.S. Uglyducklingprise"... :)

Such a sidesplitting name.

Well it is more polite than the "Anusprise"...:p

Gorgeous ship, as always. :)

Beauty in the eye of the beholder has really 'effing slipped in the last 10 years....:barf:
Had you left it be after the first comment--just to let everyone know for the Nth time that you still don't like a starship in a movie--and then gone on your way, that would have been fine. But three comments in a short span, stepping it up each time? That goes above and beyond mere registration of dislike; you're trying to provoke a reaction, and I've spoken to you about baiting before. This time it gets you a warning, and any comment you have about that should be taken to PM.

Tobias is the best. I've followed his work for years.

That ship he's faithfully reproduced, on the other hand, leaves a lot to be desired.

I don't know what it is about the new Enterprise, but it seems to scream 'hero ship', more so than other Enterprises ever did.

Have these amazing shots of his perfected Enterprise been posted here, yet? He used the model in this month's awesome Ships of the Line calendar image.

OK, now my mouth is just watering. These are great...how can anyone say this isn't a great looking ship?

RAMA

Well, everyone has their own cup of tea. For me, I love the old designs (TOS, TMP), but I love this new design as well. It's more "amped", you could say, but not overpowering. I think they did a wonderful job integrating classic beauty with modern efficiency. I mean, really, the ship has curves. Sexy curves. Just gorgeous!

Easy. Many of the ships proportions are WAY off. It struck me as uninspiring when I first saw it and upon veiwing the film, NO angle I looked at changed my mind.

Going by some very strange rule in sequels that the Really Cool Vehicle must get destroyed (our heroes' ship in Matrix 2, the Batmobile in Batman Returns AND The Dark Knight, and of course, the Enterprise in TSFS), I wouldn't be surprised if the ship went down sometime within the next two movies. Waste of a decent ship, though.

Mikey, we know you don't like the ship. We heard you the last three times;).

Well I have to agree with him. Abramprise is just the saucer from the Enterprise refit added to secondary hull that is both misaligned and too short. I'm not a big fan of the nacelles but it's the secondary hull that puts everything together in a nice balanced package.

Which begs the question why not at least use the refit. Oh that's right, that ship is associated with the ST those damn loser geeks like. We want a new sexy Enterprise. Who cares if it looks like distorted? It'll be moving too fast for anyone to notice.

Yes, their whole point was to personally insult the previous fans. I'm sure they sat there rubbing their hands together going MWAHAHAHAHA.

Its only distorted if you want to sit and directly compare it to the TOS ship...otherwise its fine. I dont think the design is perfect, and there are a couple things I don't like (I think the nacelles are too close together for one, but that is a purely aesthetic observation, not because its different from the TOS ship), but for people to sit and rag on it because its not the original ship, and find it somehow personally insulting, is ridiculous. If I was the person who was doing on the movie, I would want to have my own input to the designs of the sets and ships, and this is what they did here.

Yes, that makes perfect sense. They created an ugly ship just to piss fans off. It's so obvious.

Haters, please, if you hate it, fine. But don't go putting so much effort into trying to make others hate it aswell.
It's like there's a group of anti-fans out there making sure everybody else hates this film and the designs featured in it so they can rest easy. Is that really so important?

The new pics and the Fedcon video make me like both the new Enterprise and the Kelvin even more!

I don't hate it..., but it's not my favorite iteration.

I just wish they had made the forward section of the Interconnecting Dorsal, drop down at a steeper angle.

That way, the secondary hull wouldn't appear to be stretched so far forward.

From the side view, it just looks..., off.

It reminds me of the way they make the bows of the newer ocean going vessels.

I understand the reason for it on the ocean vessels, but I can't see a reason for that kind of derivation on a space vessel.
