These are just gorgeous...Enterprise beauty shots

Tobias Richter is a gifted artist. He did those before the movie even came out and has since perfected the models. Both his Enterprise and Kelvin appear in this year's SotL calendar.

There's also that amazing FedCon intro video where Enterprise comes to the Kelvin's aid.

Still have a tough time with those nacelles being so damn close together. Ruins the whole ship for me. :(

You just know this thread is gonna be full of people hating the new ship just because it's new. :(

Great artwork by Tobias Richter, as always!

Technically, it's not new. ;)

I'm not 'hating' on it. Just simply feel they put the nacelles to close together.

Beautiful artwork!! These are fantastically gorgeous renderings.

I love your work with my favorite ship though, the original TOS Enterprise and the Refit E and the 1701-A.

Those will always be my favorite ships.

With that sincerely offered:

J.J.'s ship sometimes reminds me of those drawings in the Gold Key comics where the proportions of the ship were always out of wack. The nacelles were often too bid, the saucer section was sometimes almost oval and the engineering hull looked like a long cigar.

The JJ 'Prise often looks like a "kit-bash".

Not my personal favorite.

That's about one of my only gripes with the new Enterprise. There aren't many shots in the movie where the problem really stood out to me though. Like any other ship it has its good and bad angles.

They're still great renders though. :techman:

Hopefully after a few more movies they will put out a book with all the ships of the new universe.

I was one who wasn't a fan of the first picture they released of the new ship. But after seeing it from different angles and in the movie, I LOVE it. I don't see it as an updated TOS version. It's more a retro of the Enterprise TMP refit. And, I believe as James Cawley described it, it looks more beefed up and moving even when it's standing still.

My very initial reaction when the picture was released was also dislike. But after the initial shock wore off and I saw better pictures plus seeing her in action I have come to find that it is my favorite Enterprise design.

I hope there are a few more beauty shots in the sequel. Not enough exterior still shots of the ship for my liking in Trek XI :)

Yuck. It is still as ugly as it ever was and for all the same reasons too. When I watch the movie I close my eyes whenever the Abomination appears, imagine something classic and graceful in its place.

I think those images were in the Art forum at one time (or here). Probably a year & a half ago.

I'm in this camp. The ship looks beautiful at times, but the odd proportioning bugs me. The secondary hull so far forward and the shape of it, the engines too close together.

I realize it looks "different" due to the altered timelime, that's fine. No reason it couldn't have been closer proportionally to the original or the TMP refit.
